HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - R-02-004 - 04/01/2002 - INTL BUILDING SAFETY WEEKRESOLUTION R 02-004 INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SAFETY WEEK 2002 APRIL 7 -13, 2002 Whereas, the safety of the buildings we occupy daily is essential to the health, safety and general welfare to the Citizens of the world; and Whereas, among the world's most fundamental laws are those providing standards for the construction of buildings in which people live, work and play; and Whereas, for construction codes to be effective and enforced, understanding and cooperation must exist between code officials and the people they serve; and Whereas, through the efforts of code officials worldwide and their cooperative relationship with the construction industry. The administration of these health and life -safety standards is assured; and Whereas, units of local government across the world, along with such prestigious organizations as; Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA) International Code Council (ICC) International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) Southern Building Congress International, Inc. (SBCCI) National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards (NCSBCS) World Organization on Building Officials (WOBO) Are joining together to promote the use of building and construction codes today, through the observation of International Building Safety Week; and Whereas, the theme of International Building Safety Week 2002 has been established as "Setting the Standard for Building Safety." Now therefore, be it firmly resolved that the week of April 7 —13, 2002, shall be known as "INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SAFETY WEEK". We urge all citizens to: participate in INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SAFETY WEEK activities, to help promote building safety, to create an awareness of the importance of construction and to spotlight the role of the dedicated code official in the administration of those codes.
