Donahue was hired as Patrolman for the City of McHenry Police Department on June 24,1977, was promoted to Sergeant on October 1, 1980, promoted to Lieutenant on May 1, 1986, and promoted to Deputy Chief on May 1, 2001; and WHEREAS, he has made every effort to provide the citizens of McHenry quality Police Protection and has performed his duties with diligence, loyalty, courage, unselfishness and professionalism; and WHEREAS, he has taken on the added responsibilities of Acting Chief of Police during the absence of the City's Chief Law Enforcement Officer, and has done so with great aplomb, tact, and efficiency; and WHEREAS, he has served the City of McHenry in his capacity as Police Officer with strength of character, discipline and dedication, and has acted in all matters with the welfare of the City uppermost in his mind and has tendered his resignation effective March 29, 2002; and WHEREAS, he can look back with pride on his numerous contributions and accomplishments while serving the City of McHenry Police Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of McHenry go on record as recognizing the twenty-five years of contributions and accomplishments of Raymond J. Donahue and expresses its appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the citizens of McHenry. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be incorporated into the minutes of this meeting and that a copy be presented to Raymond J. Donahue. PASSED AND APPROVED this 18'h day of February, 2002.
