Batt was hired on November 1, 1985 by the City of McHenry as the Superintendent of the Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, he has served as head of the City's Public Works Department under the tenures of Mayor Joseph Stanek, Mayor William Busse, Mayor Steven Cuda, and the current Mayor Pamela J. Althoff; and WHEREAS, he has been responsible for directing the daily maintenance of the City's fourteen square miles of public streets, including resurfacing during Annual Street Programs, snowplowing during the winter season, spring cleanup of the City's expansive storm sewer system infrastructure; and WHEREAS, he has played a significant role in spearheading City efforts to establish a pro- active Street Repair and Replacement Program, thereby saving the City's taxpayers the cost of completely reconstructing City roadways; and WHEREAS, he has watched the City grow from a population of 13,536 to 21,501, and has observed the Public Works Department evolve to nine Sewer Division Employees, nineteen Street Division Employees, eight Water Division Employees, three Building and Grounds Division Employees, and three Office Staff members; and WHEREAS, he is known for his warmth, care, compassion, good humor, and willingness to be of assistance to Staff, Council and the community -at -large; and WHEREAS, he can look back with pride on his service, loyalty and dedication to the citizens of the McHenry Community after seventeen years of faithful service. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the McHenry City Council go on record as recognizing the seventeen years of contributions and accomplishments of Fredric C. Batt and expresses its appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the citizens of McHenry. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be incorporated into the minutes of this meeting and that a copy be presented to Fredric C. Batt. PASSED AND APPROVED this 18te day of February, 2002.
