WHEREAS, the City of McHenry endeavors to assure the health, safety and
livelihood of the citizens of its community; and
WHEREAS, the City has adopted a Do The right Thing Program which
recognizes, praises and supports the youth of the community who go out of their way to
assist others with no thought to self endangerment, cost, or remuneration for their deeds;
and
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry has been made aware of the selfless
contributions of assistance provided by six young men who aided an elderly citizen who
was seen wandering helplessly in the community; and
WHEREAS, these young men comforted a senior citizen, provided assurance of
safety, notified her family of her whereabouts, and ultimately guided her home, while
selflessly forfeiting an entire evening on her behalf, and
WHEREAS, these six young men are to be commended for their generosity of spirit,
selfless giving, and responsible behavior are hereby presented with Do The Right Thing
Awards on behalf of the citizens of McHenry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of McHenry go on
record as recognizing Jeff Ong, Ryan Ong, Jim Ernest, Pat Hendersen, Ben Mauch,
and Nate Service for their dedication to humanity, perseverance and fortitude in assuring;
the safety of a fellow McHenry citizen.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be incorporated into the
minutes of this meeting and be presented to Jeff Ong, Ryan Ong, Jim Ernest, Pat
Hendersen, Ben Mauch, and Nate Service on behalf of the residents of the City of
McHenry.
