HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - O-73-56 - 03/05/1973 - 1973 ELECTTIONORDINANCE FOR REGULAR ELECTION 1973 Election Ordinance BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of McHenry, that: Section 1. There shall be a regular election of officers in the city on the 17th day of April, 1973. Section 2. At such election, there shall be elected a Mayor, four Aldermen, a City Clerk, and a City Treasurer, each for a four-year term. The ballot to be used in such election shall be in the form prescribed by statute; and it shall be the duty of the City Clerk to see to the preparation of suf- ficient ballots for the election, to cause a sample of such ballot to be published prior to the day of election in a newspaper of general circulation published in the City, and to provide the necessary election supplies for each voting district or ward. Section 3. At least fifteen (15) but not more than thirty (30) days before the election, the Clerk shall cause to be pub- lished in such newspaper a notice of election, which shall be substantially as follows: NOTICE OF ELECTION On the 17th day of April, 1973, there will be a regular election in the City of McHenry to elect: a Mayor, four Aldermen, a City Clerk, and a City Treasurer; each for a four-year term. The wards and polling places for such election shall be: Ward No. 1 Polling Place: Junior High School 3711 W. Kane Ave. Ward No. 2 Polling Place: George P. Freund, Inc. Farm Machinery 4102 W. Crystal Lake Road Ward No. 3 Polling Place: City Hall 1111 N. Green St. Ward No. 4 Polling Place: Sunnyside Dodge 4810 W. Route 120 Polls shall be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central Standard time. The wards or voting districts for such election and the polling places shall be those designated in the preceding section. Section 5. The judges of election shall be such as shall be hereafter designated by the Mayor and City Council to serve as election officials. Section 6. The said election and all matters pertaining thereto shall be conducted in the manner prescribed by statute for the conduct of regular election for City Officers. PASSED: This 5th day of March, 1973.
