HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - O-71-46 - 03/01/1971 - 1971 ELECTION ORDINANCEORDINANCE FOR REGULAR ELECTION 1971 ELECTION ORDINANCE BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of McHenry, that: SECTION 1. There shall be a regular election of of- ficers in the City on the 20th day of April, 1971. SECTION 2. At such election there shall be elected four aldermen for four-year terms. The ballot to be used in such election shall be in the form prescribed by statute; and it shall be the duty of the City Clerk to see to the pre- paration of sufficient ballots for the election, to cause a sample of such ballot to be published prior to the day of election in a newspaper of general circulation published in the City and to provide the necessary election supplies for each voting district or ward. SECTION 3. At least fifteen but not more than thirty days before the election the Clerk shall cause to be pub- lished in such newspaper a notice of election, which shall be substantially as follows: NOTICE OF ELECTION On the 20th day of April, 1971, there will be a regular election in the City of McHenry to elect: Four aldermen for four-year terms. The wards and polling places for such elec- tion shall be: WARD NO. 1: McHenry Junior High School, 3711 West Kane Avenue. WARD NO. 2: George P. Freund, Inc. Farm Ma- chinery, 4102 West Crystal Lake Rd. WARD N0. 3: City Hall (Municipal Building), 1111 North Green Street. WARD NO. 4: Heide's Restaurant and Pizzeria 1507 North Meadow Lane. Polls shall be open from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. of that day. Published by order of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. C-/ Mayor City Clerk SECTION 4. The wards or voting districts for such election and the polling places shall be those designated in the preceding section. SECTION 5. The judges of election shall be such as shall be hereafter designated by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to serve as election officials. SECTION 6. The said election and all matters per- taining thereto shall be conducted in the manner prescribed by statute for the conduct of a regular election for City officers.
