ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC BENEFIT TAX
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry has become obligated to liquidate
certain public benefit assessments as established in various special
assessment proceedings, and
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry is permitted to establish a
public benefit tax under Section 9-3-49, of Chapter 24, of the Illinois
Revised Statutes, State Bar Association Edition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of
the City of McHenry that there is hereby established a public benefit tax
as provided under Section 9-3-49, of Chapter 24, of the Illinois Revised
Statutes, State Bar Association Edition.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that such tax shall be appropriated
and levied according to need, but in no event shall it exceed . 05% upon all
taxable property situated within the municipality.
THIS ORDINANCE shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval, as by law provided.
