Resolution supporting household hazardous chemical
waste removal in the City of McHenry.
WHEREAS, the McHenry City Council acknowledges the importance: of
preserving the environment and McHenry Area Quality of Life; and
WHEREAS, the Riverwood School Fifth Grade Students of Ms. Elizabeth
Huffman and Ms. Renee Petty made a presentation entitled "Hazardous Household
Cleaners" before the McHenry City Council at its March 14, 2001 regularly
scheduled Council Meeting; and
WHEREAS, the McHenry City Council concurs with the Students'
presentation and recognizes the need to improve the environment through the
implementation of a planned Hazardous Household Cleaner Waste and Recycling
Site; and
WHEREAS, the McHenry City Council has consistently supported the
education of its residents through programs, brochures and pamphlets provided by
the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, McHenry County Schools
Recycling Education Team, and the City's Environmental Advisory Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and McHenry
City Council of the City of McHenry, Illinois that the City of McHenry hereby
approves, supports and endorses the implementation of a "Hazardous Household
Cleaner Waste and Recycling Site for its residents.
Passed and approved this 18 th day of APRIL , 2001.
