HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - O-61-26 - 03/06/1961 - 1961 ELECTION ORDINANCEORDINANCE FOR REGULAR ELECTION r 1961 Election Ordinance BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of McHenry, that: Section 1. There shall be a regular election of officers in the city on the 18th day of April, 1961. Section 2. At such election, there shall be elected a mayor, three aldermen, City Clerk, City treasurer and police magistrate for a four-year term. The ballot to be used in such election shall be in the form prescribed by statute, and it shall be the duty of the City Clerk to see to the preparation of sufficient ballots for the election, and to cause a sample of such ballot to be published prior to the day of election in a newspaper of general circulation published in the city, and to be provided the necessary election supplies for each voting district or ward. Section 3. At least fifteen (15) but not more than thirty (30) days before the election, the Clerk shall cause to be published in such news- paper a notice of election, which shall be substantially as follows: NOTICE OF ELECTION On the 18th day of April, 1961, there will be a regular election in the City of McHenry to elect: A Mayor, three aldermen, City Clerk, City treasurer, and police magistrate for four-year terms. The wards and polling places for such election shall be: Ward No. 1. Polling Place: City Hall - Green Street Ward No. 2. Polling Place: Buss Ford Sales - 531 Main Street Ward No. 3. Polling Place: A. S. Blake Motors, Inc, - 301 E. Pearl St. Polls shall be open from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. Central Standard Time, Published by order of the Mayor and City Council. Mayor We/,1 ` City Clerk tERT. OF ATTACHED PUsLICATION TO ORIGINAL Section 4. The wards or voting districts for such election and the polling places shall be those designated in the preceding section. Section 5. The judges of election shall be such as shall be hereafter designated by the Mayor and City Council to serve as election officials. Section 6. The said election and all matters pertaining thereto shall be conducted in the manner prescribed by statute for the conduct of a regular election for City officers.
