AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING
STREET NAMES
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests of the
City of McHenry and in the best interests of public morale
that a system of street names and numbering be adopted and
established within the corporate limits of the City of
McHenry in order to facilitate mail delivery, fire protectior
and police protection, and
WHEREAS, a proposed system of street names and street
numbering has been submitted and approved by the City Council
in the furtherance of the public interest,
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF
McHENRY, ILLINOIS, that the following street names shall
be changed as herein set forth:
1. The present "Elgin Road" shall be known as
"Green Street" to the southerlymost point of the
corporate limits of the city.
2. "Illinois State Route No. 31" shall be known
as "Front Street" from the southerly line of Elm Street
as herein defined, to the southerlymost point of the
corporate limits of the city on said Illinois State
Route No. 31.
3. "Elm Street" shall refer to the public way
extending from the west side of the Fox River to the
intersection thereof with the northeasterly line of
Waukegan Road, said Elm Street also being known as
Illinois State Route No. 120.
4. "Grove Street" presently as situated in the
subdivision of Cooney Heights, shall be known as
"Crestwood Drive" in its entire length.

5. "Park Avenue" shall be known as "Kane
Avenue" in its entire length.
6. The southernmost road in River Stream
Subdivision, as platted, shall be known as "Judy
Lane" from the easterly line of John Street to
its point of intersection with the northeasterly
line of Lot 21 as extended northwesterly, and the
most northeasterly line of Lot 5 as extended
southeasterly, in said River Stream Subdivision.
7. That part of Golf View Avenue lying north-
easterly of the northeasterly line of Lot 8 in
McHenry Golf Course Subdivision shall hereafter be
known as "Shady Lane."
THIS ORDINANCE shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
