WHEREAS, McHenry Area Jaycees is a civic, community service organization
whose mission is to pursue service to humanity which is the best work of life; and
WHEREAS, the Jaycees have given endless hours of volunteerism to raise
monies for the betterment of the McHenry Community through a variety of projects; and
WHEREAS, the Jaycees have undertaken the responsibility for procuring funds
by working tirelessly on the Annual Haunted House to underwrite the cost of the City of
McHenry Annual Fireworks Display for the past five years; and
WHEREAS, the Jaycees have willingly donated the manpower to staff the
admission gate and parking for the City's Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration;
and y
WHEREAS, the Fourth of July Celebration has evolved from a fireworks display
at dusk, to an all day family event, endearingly called "Jaycees Day", which is
sponsored, coordinated and staffed by the McHenry Area Jaycees; and
WHEREAS, the Year 2000 Fireworks Display at Petersen Park was one of the
very best ever viewed by the McHenry citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the McHenry City Council would like to publicly acknowledge the
generous contributions of time, money and sweat equity on behalf of the City of
McHenry Community -at -Large.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of McHenry go on
record as recognizing the volunteerism, efforts and contributions of the McHenry Area
Jaycees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be incorporated info "the
minutes of this meeting and be presented to the President of the McHenry Area Jaycees
on behalf of the residents of the City of McHenry.
