AN ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF McHENRY, McHENRY
COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1. The fees and charges set forth in this Ordinance shall
become effective August 1, 1994.
SECTION 2. Section 7-3 of the Municipal Code, City of McHenry,
Illinois, relating to building permit fees is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Sec. 7-3. Permit fees established, penalty fee.
The following fees shall be charged for permits required by this
Chapter:
A. (1) RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION:
(a) NEW CONSTRUCTION (single family, 2-family,
multi -family): $0.18 per square foot.
(b) ADDITIONS: $0.18 per square foot, with a minimum fee
of $30.00.
(c) REMODELING: $0.18 per square foot, with a minimum fee
of $30.00.
(2) NEW GARAGE CONSTRUCTION: $0.15 per square foot.
(3) WRECKING: for wrecking principal building only shall be
$100.00.
(4) RAISING, SHORING OR UNDERPINNING OF STRUCTURES: $15.00.
(5) POOLS:
(a) Above ground: $15.00.
(b) In -ground: $75.00.
(6) SIDING INSTALLATION: $10.00.
(7) STONE, BRICK VENEER: $37.50.
(8) UTILITY SHED: $0.10 per square foot, with a minimum fee of
$10.00.
(9) The minimum fee for all new residential construction shall be
$22.50, unless otherwise specified herein.
B. (1) NON-RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION:
(a) NEW CONSTRUCTION:
First 200 square feet: $225.00.
201 square feet to 20,000 square feet: $0.06 per
square foot.
20,001 square feet and over: $0.03 per square foot.
(b) ADDITIONS: $0.18 per square foot, with a minimum fee
of $45.00.
(c) REMODELING: $0.18 per square foot, with a minimum fee
of $45.00.
(2) GARAGE - ASSESSORY USE ONLY: $0.15 per square foot.
(3) WRECKING/DEMOLITION: $200.00.
(4) RAISING, SHORING, UNDERPINNING STRUCTURE: $15.00.
(5) SHEDS: $0.15 per square foot, with a minimum fee of $15.00.
(6) STONE, BRICK VENEER: $37.50.
(7) SIGNS:
Non -illuminated: $25.00
Illuminated: $50.00
Portable/Temporary: $30.00 plus a deposit of $30.00
(8) INCINERATOR/CREMATORY: $37.50
(9) The minimum fee for all new non-residential construction
shall be $45.00, unless otherwise specified herein.
C. REINSPECTION FEE - AFTER SECOND FAILED INSPECTION: $25.00
D. The aforesaid residential and non-residential permit fees shall be
increased by fifty percent (50%) where construction has been commenced
before a permit is issued for such work.
E. All permit fees as are herein established or made, by Amendment, or
hereinafter established by the City Council, shall be collected by the City
Clerk and deposited with the City Treasurer."
SECTION 3. That Section 7-3.1 of the Municipal Code relating to
elevator inspection fees is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 7-3.1. Inspection fees.
The following fees shall be charged for passenger
elevator/chairlift and dumb-waiter/freight lift inspections:
new construction: $110.00
Semi-annual inspection: $ 50.00"
SECTION 4. Section 7-74 of the Municipal Code relating to the moving
of any building is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 7-74. Approval of permit; fee.
Upon the approval of the intended route by the City Council, a fee
of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each day or fraction thereof that
it it intended that the building shall occupy any such portion of any
public place shall be paid to the City Clerk and the permit will be
issued."

SECTION 5. Section 7-112(c) of the Municipal Code relating to Fences
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(c) A fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00) shall be charged for a
residential fence permit."
SECTION 6. Section 7-112 of the Municipal Code relating to Fences is
hereby amended to add the following sub -section (d):
"(d) A fee of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) shall be charged for a
non-residential fence permit."
SECTION 7. Section 7-145 (b) of the Municipal Code shall be amended by
increasing the portable sign permit fee and security deposit stated therein
from $20.00 each to $30.00 each.
SECTION 8. Section 7-156 of the Municipal Code relating to
Parabolic -Dish Type Television Antenna permit application fees are hereby
amended by increasing the residential antenna permit fee from $10.00 to
$15.00 and the non-residential antenna permit fee from $25.00 to $37.50.
SECTION 9. Section 21-34 of the Municipal Code relating to Excavations
and Tunneling is hereby amended by increasing the permit fee for the
excavation or tunneling under any street, alley or other public place from
$10.00 to $15.00.
SECTION 10. Section 22-5 of the Municipal Code relating to Swimming
Pools permit fees shall be amended to read as follows:
"Section 22-5. Permit Fees.
The fee for a permit for the erection or construction of a swimming
pool shall be as prescribed in Section 7-3(A)(5) of this Code."
SECTION 11. Section 28-5 of the Municipal Code relating to Soil
Erosion and Sedimentation Control is hereby amended by increasing the permit
fee for a site development from $25.00 to $37.50.
SECTION 12. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of
this ordinance shall be fined not less than Twenty Five Dollars ($25.00) nor
more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for each offense committed on each
day during, or on which, a violation occurs or continues.
SECTION 13. All ordinances, or parts thereof, in conflict with the
terms and provisions hereof, be and the same are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict.
SECTION 15. This ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form by and
under the authority of the corporate authorities of the City of McHenry,
Illinois.
SECTION 16. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
