RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it is the direct responsibility of the City of McHenry to ensure the
safety of its constituents; and
WHEREAS, vehicular traffic on Illinois State Route 120 has increased in
intensity and speed; and
WHEREAS, McHenry Elementary School District 15's Valley View School is
located at 6515 West Route 120; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation regulates the speed
limitations, roadway improvements and all traffic signalization of Illinois State Route
120.
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation plans to improve Illinois
State Route 120 from its intersection with Crystal Lake Road in the City of McHenry
west to its intersection with Charles Road, including the McHenry Elementary School
District 15 Valley View frontage; and
WHEREAS, the immediacy of the need for left -turn lanes both eastbound and
westbound on Illinois State Route 120 in front of Valley View School is of utmost
importance to preserve the safety of all those entering or leaving the Valley View School
site.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of McHenry hereby
requests and supports the installation of left -turn lanes both eastbound and westbound on
Illinois State Route 120 at Valley View Elementary School located at 6515 West Route
120.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be incorporated into the
minutes of this meeting and be presented to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
