AN ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, it has been determined, upon the basis of a
traffic investigation, that the maximum speed limit
prescribed in Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 95 1/2,
Section 11-601, to wit: 30 mph, is less than is reasonable
or safe with respect to the conditions found to exist on the
streets and highways listed in Section 1 of this Ordinance,
and that a reasonable and safe absolute maximum speed limit
thereon is 25 mph; and,
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the City of
McHenry, Illinois do hereby declare that a reasonable and
safe absolute maximum speed limit on the streets and
highways listed in Section 1 of this Ordinance is 25 mph.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
City of McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois as follows:
SECTION 1. No driver of any motor vehicle shall
operate or drive such motor vehicle at a speed in excess of
25 mph upon the following streets and highways within the
City:
a.
Skyway Drive -- West of
Linda
b.
Valley Road -- South of
Skyway Drive
C.
Lorient Drive between Baurer
and Valley Road
d.
Brettons Drive -- East
from Green Street
e.
Victoria Avenue between
John Street and
Country Club Drive
f.
Charlotte Avenue between
John Street and
Country Club Drive
g.
Crescent Avenue between
John Street and
Country Club Drive
SECTION
2. Any
person, firm or corporation violating
any provision
of this
ordinance shall
be fined not less than
Twenty Five
Dollars
($25.00) nor
more than Five Hundred
Dollars ($500.00) for each offense
committed on each day
during, or on
which, a
violation occurs
or continues.
SECTION 3. All ordinances, or parts thereof, in
conflict with the terms and provisions hereof, be and the
same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be published in
pamphlet form by and under the authority of the corporate
authorities of the City of McHenry, Illinois.
SECTION 5. This ordinance s all be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and pu lication as provided by law.
