AN ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
McHENRY, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 26-45 of the "Municinal Code,
City of McHenry, Illinois" be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Sec. 26-45. Meter installation, location.
(a) Meters shall be installed by the Public
Works Department. The owner of the premises to
be metered shall nav for the meters. Thev shall
be placed in a location easy of access and for
outside reading, to be approved by the superin-
tendent of public works, and the propertv owner
shall provide a proper opening in the piping
provided with the necessary couplings, unions
and bypass.
(b) In order that outside meter reading be
attained, users and/or owners of the premises
served with municipal water shall, upon notice
from and request by the Public Works Department
of the City, provide the City, its servants,
agents and employees, with access to the subject
premises at such time or times that the City may
require, for the purpose of replacing the inside
meter and installing an outside reader or for
the purpose of adapting the inside meter for out-
side reading.
Where an inside meter is replaced and an outside
reader is installed, as herein provided, the owner
and/or user shall pay the City a total service
charge of $37.50, to cover one-half of the estimated
material and labor cost thereof. where an inside
meter is adapted rather than replaced and an outside
:reader is installed, the owner shall pay the City a
total service charge of fi15.00 to cover one-half the
estimated cost thereof. These meter charges shall be
.included on the next available quarterly billing for
water rates and shall be due and payable on or before
-the twentieth day of the months of February, May,
August and November; payment of such meter charge
after the twentieth day of said month shall subject
the owner and/or user to an administrative charge
of 10% of the amount of the unpaid administrative
charge for each and every quarter that such amount,
or any part thereof, remains unpaid.
(c) Where an existing structure having an outside
meter reader is altered in anv way so that outside
meter reading is no longer feasible, the owner of
such premises shall pay the City the entire material
and labor cost of relocating the meter and outside
reader, said sum being payable at the time applica-
tion for building or remodeling permit is obtained
or at the time requested by the City, whichever is
sooner.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published in pamphlet
form by and under the authority of the corporate authorities of
the City of McHenry, Illinois.
SECTION 3. Any ordinance in conflict herewith, to the
extent of such conflict, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in
pamphlet form, according to law.
