HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - MC-77-104 - 02/22/1977 - 1977 election ordinanceMC-104 /v& %%— ORDINANCE FOR REGULAR ELECTION 1977 Election Ordinance BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of McHenry, that: Section 1. There shall be a regular election of officers in the city on the 19th day of April, 1977. Section 2. At such election, there shall be elected a mayor, a city clerk, and a city treasurer from the city at large, and also one alderman from each of four wards, each for a four-year term. The ballot to be used in such election shall be in the form pre- scribed by statute; and it shall be the duty of the City Clerk to see to the preparation of sufficient ballots for the election, to cause a sample of such ballot to be published prior to the day of election in a newspaper of general circulation published in the City, and to provide the necessary election supplies for each voting district or ward. Section 3. At least fifteen (15) but not more than thirty (30) days before the election, the Clerk shall cause to be published in such newspaper a notice of election, which shall be substantially as follows: NOTICE OF ELECTION On the 19th day of April, 1977, there will be a regular election in the City of McHenry to elect: A mayor, a city clerk, a city treasurer and also one alderman from each of four wards, each a four-year term. The wards and polling places for such election shall be: Ward No. 1 Polling Place Ward No. 2 Polling Place Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 North Green Street. Whispering Oaks Community Center, 4513 Front Royal Ave. Ward No. 3 City Hall - Municipal Polling Place Building, 1111 N. Green St. Ward No. 4 Lakeland Park Community Polling Place House, 1717 North Sunset Ave. Polls shall be open from 6 a.m, to 6 p.m. Daylight Saving time. The wards or voting districts for such election and the polling places shall be those des- signated in the preceding section. Section 5. The judges of election shall be such as shall be hereafter designated by the Mayor and City Council to serve as election officials. Section 6. The said election and all matters pertaining thereto shall be conducted in the manner prescribed by statute for the conduct of regular election for City Officers.
