AN ORDINANCE
REDISTRICTING THE CITY OF McHENRY
WHERE.66, certain territories have been recently annexed to
the City of McHenry, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, certain statutory requirements in regard to equal
apportionment of representation through the application of the "one man,
one vote" doctrine, and
WHEREAS, such acquisition of territory and equitable re-
apportionment requires the locating of all corporate lands within legally
conforming ward lines as established by the City Council of the City of
McHenry, Illinois;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED that, to establish equitable and uniform
districting of the City of McHenry in accordance with
population location, Ordinance MC-27 and Ordinance
MC-36 shall be, and hereby are, repealed in their
entirety.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Section 17, Article II,
of Chapter 2 of the Municipal Code of the City of McHenry,
Illinois, is hereby established and shall read as follows:
17. WARDS. The City is hereby divided into four (4)
wards, the boundaries of which are divided as follows:
FIRST WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits of
the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning; at the intersection of Front Street (Illinois,
State Route 31) and John Street; thence Southeasterly
along the center line of John Street to the Northerly line
of Riverstream Subdivision, being a Subdivision of part
of Sections 35 and 36, Township 45 North, Range 8 East
of the Third Principal Meridian; thence Northeasterly,
along the Northerly line of Riverstream Subdivision
aforesaid to the Westerly shore line of the Fox River;
thence Southeasterly along said Westerly shore line of
the Fox River to the Southeasterly corner of Lot 43 in
Owen, Stenger 8& Allen's First Addition to McHenry,
being a Subdivision of part of Sections 35 and 36,
