ORDINANCE ON KEEPING OF ANIMALS

WHEREAS, residential and business development within
the corporate limits of the City of McHenry has resulted in
density of use, and
WHEREAS, such density of use has resulted in residential
and commercial establishments being placed in close proximity
one to the other, and
WHEREAS, such density of use results in making
obnoxious the keeping, maintaining, raising, stabling upon
any premises within the City of McHenry an objectionable and
noxious usage of premises by reason of unnecessary noise,
odors and maintaining of unsightly structures for stabling
and maintaining, and
WHEREAS, it is to the best interest of the residents
of the City of McHenry that any livestock shall be forbidden
to be kept in the corporate limits by reason of such keeping
it would be detrimental to public health and comfort of the
residents of the City of McHenry:
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of
the City of McHenry in the Municipal Code, as amended, of the
said City of McHenry, and it is hereby amended as follows:
CHAPTER XI
Article XI. All animals, 122a. The keeping,
stabling, raising, maintaining, breeding or
otherwise using any premises within the
corporate limits of the City of McHenry of
all animals, excepting domestic household
pets, shall be hereafter declared a nuisance
and any usage of premises for the keeping or

maintaining of such other animals shall be a
violation of this ordinance, per se, and subject
to the penalties as provided under this article.. I
