AN ORDINANCE
REDISTRICTING THE CITY OF McHENRY
BY WARDS
WHEREAS, the statutes of the State of Illinois, Chapter 24,
Sections 3-4-7 and Sections 3-4-10, require redistricting of any
municipality when the population thereof has been established by
national census to be in excess of 3,000 persons, and
WHEREAS, the national census of 1960 has established the
population of the City of McHenry in the number of 3, 336.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of
the City of McHenry that the Municipal Code of the City of McHenry,
Chapter 2, Article II, Section 17 thereof, be repealed in its entirety,
and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Municipal Code of the
City of McHenry be amended by including therein the following:
17. WARDS. The City is hereby divided into four (4)
wards, the boundaries of which are defined as follows:
FIRST WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits
of the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line
4 of the Chicago and North Western Railway right-of-way
with the North corporate limits; thence Southerly along
i said center line of right-of-way to the point of inter-
section with the center line of Boone Creek; thence
Easterly and Southerly along the center line of Boone
Creek, parallel to the meander line of Boone Creek,
to a point of intersection in the center line of Bauer
Avenue (Illinois State Routes 120 and 31); thence
Southwesterly along the center line of said Bauer
Avenue to a point of intersection with the center line
of Front Street; thence Southerly along the center line
of Front Street to a point of intersection with the center

line of John Street; thence Southeasterly along the
center line of John Street to a point of intersection with
the center line of Green Street; thence South along the
center line of Green Street to a point 66 feet North of
the North line of Country Club estates; thence East,
at right angles to the center line of Green Street, a
distance of 124 feet; thence South at right angles to the
last described line a distance of 66 feet to the North
line of Country Club Estates; thence East along the
North line of said Country Club Estates for a distance
of 619. 75 feet; thence North on a line at right angles

of 1, 278. 98 feet to a point; thence West on a line parallel
with the Quarter Section line for a distance of 179 feet;
thence North for a distance of 40 feet to the South line
of the McHenry Country Club, which is also the corporate
line; thence East and Northerly along the corporate line
to the center line of Boone Lagoon; thence Westerly along
the center line of Boone Lagoon to a point which is due
South of the center line of Richmond Road (Illinois State
Route 31) extended Southerly; thence North along said
line, said line being the center line of Richmond Road
as it exists, and as extended Southerly, to a point of
intersection with the North corporate line; thence West
along the North corporate line to the place of beginning.
SECOND WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits
of the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the center line of the intersections of Green
Street and John Street; thence Westerly along the center
line of John Street, and the center line as extended
Westerly, to a point of intersection with the center line
of the Chicago and North Western Railway right-of-way;
thence Southerly along the center line of said Chicago and
North Western Railway right-of-way to the South corporate
limit line; thence East and North along said corporate
line to the center line of Green Street; thence North
along the center line of Green Street to the place of
beginning.
THIRD WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits
of the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of
Richmond Road (Illinois State Route 31) with the North
corporate line; thence East along the said corporate
line to the West bank of the Fox River; thence Southerly
along the meander line of the Fox River to the center
line of Boone Lagoon; thence Westerly along the center
line of Boone Lagoon to a point in the center line of
Richmond Road (Illinois State Route 31) as extended
Southerly; thence North along said center line of
Richmond Road (Illinois State Route 31), and the center
line of said road as extended Southerly, to the place of
be ginning.
FOURTH WARD
All that territory and area within the corporate limits
of the City of McHenry described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line
of the Chicago and North Western Railway right-of-way
and the North corporate limits; thence West along the
corporate line to a point of intersection with the North
and South corporate line; thence South and Southwesterly

the Southwesterly corporate line; thence Southeasterly

and North Western Railway right-of-way; thence
Northeasterly along the center line of said right-of-way
to a point of intersection with the center line of John
Street as extended Westerly; thence Easterly along the
center line of John Street to the center line of Front
Street (Illinois State Route 31); thence Northerly along
the center line of Front Street (Illinois State Route 31)
to a point of intersection with the center line of Bauer
Avenue (Illinois State Routes 120 and 21); thence North-
easterly along the center line of said Bauer Avenue
(Illinois State Route 120 and 31) to a point of intersection
with the center line of Boone Creek; thence Northerly
and Westerly along the center line of said Boone Creek
to a point of intersection with the center line of the
Chicago and North Western Railway right-of-way;
thence North along the center line of said right-of-way
to the place of beginning.
This Ordinance to be in full force and effect from and after its
adoption and passage, as statute provided.
