AN ORDINANCE CREATING AN
ELECTRICAL COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the Statutes of the State of Illinois provide for
enforcement of electrical regulations within a municipality by means of
an Electrical Commission, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interests of the citizens of
the municipality that such a Commission be appointed to enforce
existing regulations in regard to the installation of electrical wiring.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
McHenry, that Chapter 5 of the Municipal Code of the
City of McHenry be and hereby is amended by adding
thereto the following:
Article V-A - Electrical Commission:
There is hereby created an Electrical Commission
consisting of five members to be appointed by the
Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council.
The Superintendent of Public Works shall be a member
and ex-officio chairman of such Commission; of the
other four members, one shall be an electrical con-
tractor, one a journeyman electrician, one the Chief
of the McHenry Fire Prevention District, and one a
representative of an electrical supply house. Such
members shall be appointed and shall serve as pro-
vided in this Chapter of the Municipal Code.
Such Electrical Commission shall recommend safe and
practical standards and specifications for the installation,
alteration and use of electrical equipment in the City
designed to meet the necessities and conditions in this
locality, shall recommend reasonable rules and
regulations governing the issuance of permits, and
fees to be paid; however, such standards and speci-
fications, rules and regulations, and fees shall not
be effective until adopted by ordinance.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval as by statute provided.
