ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF
THE CITY OF McHENRY
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests of the
A tizens of McHenry that they have permits to construct fallout;
helters for protection in the event of an atomic attack; and
WHEREAS, acceptable fallout shelters, as stipulated
h various publications of the Federal Agencies of the
ited States of America do not meet the specific requirements !

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council and
Mayor of McHenry to maintain the provisions of Chapter 14, but

to exempt from such provisions acceptable fallout shelterso
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City, of

Henry, Illinois, that Chapter 14 of the Municipal Code of thel
City of McHenry, Illinois, as adopted on the 17th day of April,.
A.D. 1961, and as subsequently amended, be and hereby is amend-
ed by the inclusion in Chapter 14 of an Amendment to ARTICLE I,1
Section 1, as follows:
d. The rules, regulations and requirements as �
set forth herein shall not apply to fallout shelter i
structures which shall comply with the specifica-
tions as set forth in the pamphlet issued by the
Office of Civil and Defense Mobilization, MP-15,
dated June, 1959, and as specifically illustrated
in Figures 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21

thereof, and such further governmentally approved
fallout structures which may be approved in publi-
cations later than that dated June 15, 1959.
The provisions of this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect ten (10) days after their passage and ap-
provement as required by law.
