An Ordinance Amending Chapter 18, Police, of the Municipal Code,
City of McHenry, Illinois, correcting terminology and number of sworn officers
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, of the City of McHenry, McHenry
County, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1: That Section 18-1, Creation, composition of department, of the City of McHenry
Municipal Code shall be amended by deleting the following:
"In addition to the Office of the Chief of Police, the Police Department of the City shall
consist of the following additional policemen:
Two (2) lieutenants
Five (5) sergeants
Twenty-nine (29) patrolmen."
SECTION 2: That Chapter 18 of the City of McHenry Municipal Code -be amended by deleting
all references to "policemen" and replacing them with "police officers".
SECTION 3: If any section, paragraph, subsection, clause, sentence or provision of this
Ordinance shall be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgement
shall not affect, impair, invalidate or nullify the remainder thereof, which remainder shall remain and
continue in full force and effect.
SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage, approval and
publication in pamphlet form (which publication is hereby authorized) as provided by law.
