AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY OF MCHENRY MUNICIPAL CODE
CHAPTER 13 TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE CODE
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of McHenry, McHenry County as follows:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 13 Article IX, Section 13-904 of the City of McHenry Traffic and
Motor Vehicle Code entitled " COMPRESSION/RELEASE ENGINE BRAKE USE" is hereby added
as follows:
"Sec. 13-904 COMPRESSION/RELEASE ENGINE BRAKE USE
No person shall operate or cause to be used or operated within the City any
compression/release engine brake on any vehicle for any reason. For purposes of this
Section 13--904, compression/release engine brake is defined as any mechanical exhaust
device designed to aid in the braking or deceleration of any vehicle by converting engine
power to compressed air which results in excessive, loud, unusual or explosive noise
from such vehicle, otherwise known as `Jake -Braking"'.
SECTION 2: All Ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the terms and provisions hereof are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form by and under the authority of
the corporate authorities of the City of McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois.
SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval,
and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
