AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 OF THE
CITY OF MCHENRY MUNICIPAL CODE, BUILDING PERMIT
AND INSPECTION FEES
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have determined that it is in the best
interest of the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of McHenry to increase
the charges for new construction and inspections in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MCHENRY, MCHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That paragraph A (1) of Section 7-3, of Chapter 7, shall be and
hereby is, amended as follows:
A. RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION
(1) NEW CONSTRUCTION (single family, 2-family, multi -family): $0.25
per square foot plus the following plumbing review/inspection fee:
Single Family dwelling: $100
Two -Family or Multi -family dwelling: $75 per unit, plus
$25 per building
(2) ADDITIONS: $0.25 per square foot, with a minimum fee of $45,
plus a plumbing reviewfinspection fee of $50 plus $1.50 for each
plumbing fixture
(3) REMODELING: $0.25 per square foot„ with a minimum fee of $45, plus a
plumbing review/inspection fee of $50 plus $1.50 for each plumbing
fixture
(4) GARAGE:

(6) DECK/GAZEBO:
(7) FENCE:

(1) NEW CONSTRUCTION: $250 for the first 200 square feet, plus
$0.08 per square foot for 201 to 20,000 square feet; plus
$0.05 per square foot for 20,0001 square feet and over
plus a plumbing review/inspection fee of $200 plus $1.50 for
each plumbing fixture.
(2) ADDITIONS: $0.25 per square foot, with a minimum fee of $50
and a maximum fee of $10,000, plus a plumbing review/inspection
fee of $80 plus $1.50 for each plumbing fixture.
(3) REMODELING: $0.25 per square foot, with a minimum fee of $50, plus a
plumbing reviewfinspection fee of $80 plus $1.50 for each plumbing
fixture
(4) NEW GARAGE CONSTRUCTION:

SECTION 3: That paragraph C of Section 7-3, of Chapter 7, shall be and hereby
is, amended as follows:
C. REINSPECTION FEES
(1) Plumbing: $25 for each residential re -inspection
$40 for each non-residential re -inspection
(2) All Others: $37.50 after second failed inspection
SECTION 4: All ordinances of parts thereof in conflict with the terms and
provisions hereof are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form by and under
the authority of the Corporate Authorities of the City of McHenry, McHenry County,
Illinois.

SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on January 1, 2003,
after its passage, approval, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
