An Ordinance Amending City of McHenry Municipal Code
Chapter 14, Article III. Weapons
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCHENRY,
MCHENRY COUNTY, as follows:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 14 of the City of McHenry Municipal Code, shall be amended
as follows:
Section 14-64. Weapons.
(b) Discharge of Firearms. No person shall discharge any firearms in the City except
sworn police officers acting in the line of duty or during training authorized by the Chief
of Police. In addition to those firearms defined by the Illinois Compiled Statutes, for
purposes of this section, firearms shall include pump air rifles, potato guns, CO, pellet
guns, paint ball guns, and any other device capable of discharging a projectile if used
with intent to inflict harm to person or property or when used in a reckless manner.
SECTION 2: If any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, sentence or provision of this
ordinance shall be adjudged by any Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment
shall not affect, impair, invalidate or nullify the remainder thereof, which remainder shall remain
and continue in full force and effect.
SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict are hereby repealed to the extend
of such conflict.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage, approval
and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
