HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 06/02/2014 - City CouncilREGULAR MEETING June 2, 2014 Mayor Low called the regularly scheduled June 2, 2014 meeting of the McHenry City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. In attendance were the following Aldermen: Santi, Glab, Schaefer, Blake, Wimmer and Peterson. Absent: Alderman Condon. Also in attendance were City Administrator Morefield, Deputy City Administrator Martin, Director of Public Works Schmitt, Director of Human Resources Zinanni, City Attorney McArdle, Chief of Police Jones and City Clerk Jones. Absent: Deputy City Administrator Martin, Deputy City Administrator Hobson, Director of Finance Lynch, City Engineer Pieper. PUBLIC INPUT SESSION No one signed in to speak at Public Input Session. CONSENT AGENDA A. Approval to award bid for 2014 Asphalt Crack Sealing Maintenance Program to Behm Pavement Maintenance, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $30,000; B. Approval to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with McHenry County Department of Transportation and accept payment from the County of McHenry of $196,500, to purchase trees removed between Illinois Route 31 and River Road to facilitate the Charles J. Miller Road Improvement Project; C. Approve expenditure of $103,636 for 1. Purchase of three 2015 Police Ford Interceptors with equipment from Buss Ford for $75,012; 2. He requested confirmation that the Interceptors are unavailable through the State purchasing program again this year. Chief Jones responded affirmatively. Regular Meeting Page 4 June 2, 2014 MAYOR STATEMENT AND REPORT Mayor Low informed Council that a recently retired, long time employee of the City of McHenry, Tom Williams, passed away suddenly this past weekend at his home in Arkansas. A local memorial service will be held in the near future in McHenry. Mayor Low announced that summer band concerts continue in Veterans Memorial Park on Thursday night. The concerts begin at 7:30 pm in the Bob "Beef" Freund Bandshell. The entire summer concert schedule can be viewed online at www.ci.mchenry.il.us. She also extended an invitation to participate in the McHenry Downtown "Taste of McHenry" on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. COMMITTEE REPORTS There were no Committee Reports. STAFF REPORTS City Administrator Morefield announced a Committee of the Whole has been scheduled on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers to discuss the Water Rate Study. Green Street Cruise Nights begin on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Municipal parking lots and McHenry Savings Bank parking lots on Green Street. APPROVAL OF A LABOR AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MCHENRY AND ILLINOIS FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE LABOR COUNCIL REPRESENTING TELECOM MUNICATORS, COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICERS AND RECORDS CLERKS, EXPIRING APRIL 20, 203.7 Motion by Santi, seconded by Blake, to approve the labor agreement between the City of McHenry and Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council representing telecommunicators, community service officers and records clerks, expiring April 20, 2017. Voting Aye: Santi, Schaefer, Blake, Wimmer, Peterson. Voting Nay: Glab. Absent: Condon. Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Wimmer, seconded by Peterson, to adjourn the meeting at 7:27 pm.
