HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 11/19/1984 - City CouncilREGULAR MEETING MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1984 7:30 P.M The Regular Meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to order by Mayor Stanek on Monday, November 19, 1984 at 7:30 P.M. in city hall. At roll call the following Aldermen were present: Bolger, Busse, Datz, McClatchey, Nolan, Smith, Snell, Serritella. Absent: None. City staff in attendance were Supt. Halvensleben, Attorney Narusis, Clerk Gilpin, Park Director Merkel, Chief Joyce. Motion by Snell, seconded by Datz, to accept the minutes of the November 12, 1984 Regular Meeting as presented. Voting Aye: Bolger, Busse, Datz, McClatchey, Nolan, Smith, Snell, Serritella. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by McClatchey seconded by Datz, to authorize and approve the installation of a glass enclosure around the front entrance to city hall at the quoted price of $6,880.00 from Sun -Age Solar Company of Crystal Lake. Voting Aye: Bolger, Busse, Datz, McClatchey, Nolan, Smith, Snell, Serritella. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Busse, seconded by Datz, to pass the amended Building Code Ordinance as presented. Voting Aye: Bolger, Busse,,Datz, McClatchey, Nolan, Smith, Snell, Serritella. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Supt. Halvensleben reported that three price proposals were received for connection of the City of McHenry watermains to the Lakeland Park Water Company. They were as follows: Gluth Bros. $10,300.00 Althoff Industries 14,568.00 Illinois Hydraulic Co. 11,950.00 Motion by Bolger, seconded by Nolan, to approve the low price proposal of Gluth Bros. at $10,300.00 to make the necessary water connections from the City of McHenry water system to the Lakeland Park Water System. Voting Aye: Bolger, Busse, Datz, McClatchey, Nolan, Smith, Snell, Serritella. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Mayor Stanek called for a Special Meeting on Thursday, November 29, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss and pass the Lakeland Park Water Company Bond Issue and also to handle any and all business which may properly come before the Council. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Busse, to authorize the City Attorney to draft an ordinance establishing a water rate for the Lakeland Park Water Company users at $10.50 minimum rate per quarter and to establish the regular rate at $1.75 per thousand gallon. Rates Monday, November 19, 1984 page 2 Amusement Motion by Smith, seconded by Snell, to authorize and approve License the renewal of the video game license for Another Galaxy for a one year period of time as requested. Chief Joyce reported that four bids had been received for a parking enforcement vehicle. They were as follows: Buss Ford $6,600.00 Harborside Pontiac 5,942.40 Mitchell Buick 7,600.00 Sunnyside Dodge 6,680.00 Bid Opening & Motion by Busse, seconded by Bolger, to authorize the awarding to purchase of a vehicle for the parking enforcement officer from Purchases - Harborside Pontiac at the low bid of $5,942.40. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Mayor Stanek proclaimed November 18-24 as National Family Proclamations Week. Alderman Busse, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported Budget & Budget that he would begin discussion of the 1985-86 fiscal year budget in Hearings the next several months. Police Chief Joyce reported that he had correspondence from McHenry County Highway Superitendent James Rakow Speed limits regarding a change in the speed limit on Bull Valley Road from 55 to 45 mph near the hospital entrance. The County Board will take the matter under discussion at their meeting on November 29, 1984. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Nolan, to authorize and Bldg. & Zng.Misc approve the price proposal from Hughes Inc. of McHenry to demolish Violations and remove the building at 1100 S. Bonita Drive in McHenry Shores if & the work was not done by the owner by Monday, November 26, 1984. Lawsuits Voting Aye: Bolger, Busse, Datz, McClatchey, Nolan, Smith, Snell, Serritella. Motion by Smith, seconded by McClatchey, to authorize the Superintendent to proceed with replacing'the sidewalk and curb in Sidewalks front of McHenry Jewelers at 3431 W. Elm Street and to award the contract for sidewalk replacement to Decker Construction Company. Voting Aye: Bolger, Busse, Datz, McClatchey, Nolan, Smith, Snell, Serritella. Voting Nay: None.
