on the Main Street sidewalk reconstruction program.
Motion by Pepping, seconded by Harker, to reaffirm the Council's
decision to award the Main Street sidewalk construction replacement program
to Wm. H. Tonyan & Sons, Inc.; based on the fact that the job needs to be
completed quickly to avoid prolonged construction and interference with the
businesses on Main Street as well as the increased vehicular traffic that is
bound to be experienced when school starts shortly; also based upon the super-
ior material quality that is provided in the Tonyan bid such as 6-bag mix as
opposed to 5-bag; the fact that Tonyan's bid included sealing the concrete;
the C & E bid made no mention of curbing; and also the city's attempts to
resolve the differences between the Tonyan and C & E bid have been unsuccessful,
because C & E did not respond to the city's attempts to discuss it with them;
and finally, based upon the city's past satisfactory experience with the Tonyan firm.
