MONDAY, JULY 7, 1980 8 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to order
by Mayor Stanek at 8 P.M. on Monday, July 7, 1980. At roll call the following
aldermen were present: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams., Schooley.
Absent: Meurer. Also present were Clerk Gilpin, Supt. Meyer, Attorney
Narusis and Police Chief Pasenelli. Park Director Merkel arrived at 8:43 P.M.
Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to accept the minutes of the
June 30, 1980 Regular Meeting and of the July 2, 1980 Special Meeting as read.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Meurer.
Motion carried.
The Building & Zoning Committee requested that the Kamy fence
variation request be deferred until the committee has completed revisions on
the Fence Ordinance.
Motion by Nolan, seconded by Wieser, to authorize and approve payment

Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to pay Lakeland Construction Co.
$20,256.94 for gravel and concrete work at the Green Street Parking Lot with
payment to be made for the Off Street Parking Fund.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Meurer.
Motion carried.
Motion by Pepping, seconded by Nolan, to authorize and approve the
estimate of Curran Contracting to double sealcoat the driveway and parking
lots on the west side of the tracks in the wooded area of Petersen Park at a
cost of $5,640.00.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Meurer.
Motion carried.
Motion by Pepping, seconded by Harker, to instruct the city attorney
to draw up an amendment to the Subdivision Control Ordinance regarding a regula-
tion that no trees be planted on treebanks or parkways.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Harker, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: Nolan, Datz.
Absent: Meurer.
Motion carried.
Mayor Stanek authorized the Street and Sidewalk Committee to study
the matter of sidewalk construction in residential areas of R-3 and R-3A.
The Purchasing Committee along with Ald. Schooley were authorized to
check the possibility of installing underground gasoline and diesel fuel tanks
at the city garage.
Motion by Schooley, seconded by Harker, to pass a Resolution auth-
orizing the appropriation of $90,000 from the Motor Fuel Tax fund for the 1980
Summer Street Maintenance program.

Motion by Schooley, seconded by Pepping, to authorize the Clerk to
advertise for bids on the 1980 Summer Street Maintenance program with bid
opening to be July 21, 1980.
Motion by Adams, seconded by Nolan, to authorize and approve the low
bid and purchase records filing equipment for the Police Department from Knuth
Office Supply at a cost of $3,592.00 and also authorize the purchase of 3
reconditioned cardex cabinets at a cost of $375.00 each if Chief Pasenelli
feels they are up to standard after he views them.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.

Absent: Meurer.
Motion carried.
Motion by Schooley, seconded by Adams, to authorize the sale of beer
in Petersen Park for Men's 12 inch basball tournament on August 1-3, 1980 and
for Women's softball tournament on July 18-20, 1980.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: Nolan.
Absent: Meurer.
Motion carried.
Motion by Wieser, seconded by Adams, to pass the Appropriation
Ordinance for Fiscal Year 1980-1981 as presented by the Finance Committee.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Meurer.
Motion carried.
Motion by Wieser, seconded by Pepping, to accept the low bid of
Tones Music, Inc. for a new sound system (two speakers and an amplifier)
at a cost $1,212.35 to replace equipment stolen from the city band shell.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.

Absent: Meurer.

Motion by Datz, seconded by Nolan, to authorize and approve the pur-
chase of 80 2-foot by 2-foot by 8-foot concrete blocks to be used to, erect
storage bins at the city garage at a cost of $30 each.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Meurer.

Samuel J. Leo of 4916 Bonner Drive addressed the Council regarding
a problem with a 20 foot platted right-of-way between Bonner Drive and Elm
Street.
Motion by Adams, seconded by Wieser, to adjourn.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: Meurer.
