Mayor Stanek called to order a Special Meeting of the City Council on Wednesday, July 2, 1980, at 8:03 P.M. for the purpose of discussing per- sonnel. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Muerer. Absent: None. Also in attnedance were City Clerk Gilpin, Park Director Merkel, Supt. of Public Works Meyer and Police Chief Pasenelli. Motion by Wieser, seconded by Adams, to go into Executive Session at 8:04 P.M. for the purpose of discussing personnel. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Nolan, seconded by Pepping, to go back into Open Session at 11:34 P.M. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Pepping, seconded by Schooley, to authozie the Clerk to write up a proposed chanqe to the Waqe and Benefit Ordinance that would pro- vide for the following salary treatment to cover situations where an employee chanqes title to a job with a lower salary classification. In the event that the employee's chanqe in title is initiated by the City due to poor or unsatis- factory performance, the employee's wages shall revert to the lower rate. The rate that the job specifies in the Ordinance. The same shall apply if the employee voluntarily requests a change in assignment to a lower job classifi- cation. However, if the action is the result of restructuring or reorganizing jobs the employee's salary rate shall be frozen of starred. This would mean that the employee would remain at his or her present salary until such time as he or she are either reassigned to another job at that salary level or the salary level catches up with the employee. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Meurer. Wednesday, July 2, 1980 Page 2 Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Pepping, seconded by Adams, that it be city policy that no employee of the City of McHenry other that the Supt. of Public Works and the Park Director shall be permitted to take city vehicles home overnight as of August 1, 1980. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Wieser, to amend the Wage & Benefit Ordinance that the following job classifications shall be considered salaried and not subject to overtime pay except in emergency situations at which time the Department Heads may, at their discretion, authorize the payment of overtime: Said job classifications being; Chief Operator, Water Department; Chief Operator, Sewer Department; and the Building Inspector. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Adams, seconded by Wieser, to adjourn.
