MONDAY, JUNE 29, 1981 8 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor
Stanek on Monday, June 29, 1981 at 8 P.M. At roll call the following aldermen
were present: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer.
Absent: None.
Also in attendance were Supt. Weber, Attorney Narusis, Clerk Gilpin,
and Chief Pasenelli. Park Director Merkel arrived at 8:15 P.M.
Motion by Pepping, seconded by Serritella, to accept the minutes
of the June 15, 1981 Regular Meeting and of the June 22, 1981 Special Meeting
as read.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella,
Meurer.
Voting Nay: None.

Robert Mortell addressed the Council on behalf of the McHenry Youth
Lease
Baseball League and the VFW to request $1,500 for the renewal of the VFW lease VFW
Ball -
agreement for use of the ballfields. fields
Motion by Wieser, seconded by Smith, to grant the request and
authorize the expenditure of $1,500 for the VFW Lease Agreement renewal.
Motion by Pepping, seconded by Harker, to amend the motion to read
that the city grant the request and authorize the expenditure of $1,500 for
the renewal of the VFW Lease Agreement for one year with the understanding
that this will be the last contribution by the city unless the city is unable
to provide baseball fields for the McHenry Youth League next year.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella,
Meurer.

Wieser withdrew his motion and Smith withdrew his second of the
original motion.
Mayor Stanek nominated the following people to the Library Board:
,Appoint-
ment reappointment of Karen Kent and Robert O'Brien with terms to expire 7-1-84
and the appointment of Walter Morris to fill the unexpired term of Ruth Fenwick
with term to expire 7-1-82. The expired terms of Fred Bienapfl and Patrick
Lawler still are to be filled.
Motion by Datz, seconded by Harker, to approve the Mayor's nom-
inations as presented.

Meurer.
Voting Nay: None.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Serritella, to authorize the Supt.
'Sidewalk of Public Works to install sidewalks on the south side of Elm Street from
cost
Sharing Industrial Drive to Kentucky Fried Chicken Store with cost participation to
be on the same basis as the recent Green Street Sidewalk project with in-
stallation to be made when time allows.

Meurer.

Motion by Harker, seconded by Pepping, to authorize and approve
1979 Payment Estimate No. 16 to Keno & Sons Construction Co. in the amount of

$24,596.04 as recommended by Baxter & Woodman for sewage treatment plant
additions.

Motion by Nolan, seconded by Pepping, to authorize the expenditure
of up to $350 to hire a band to play at the July 4th city picnic in Petersen Park
Program

Mayor Stanek read a letter from the McHenry Area Rescue Squad which
Commend
commended Police Officer Tom Beyer and Sgt. Gregory Burg for their assistance ation
in aiding a woman before the Rescue Squad arrived on the scene. The letter
was made a permanent record of each officer's employment file.
Bryce Klontz addressed the Council on behalf of the McHenry Area P ark
Improve -
Chamber of Commerce concerning a proposal for participation with the city in me nt
rewiring Pearl Street Park. The Chamber offered to pay 50% of the costs up
to a maximum of $1,000.
Motion by Pepping, seconded by Nolan, to enter into a joint agree-
ment with the Chamber of Commerce to provide increased electrical power in Ag r e ement�
Pearl Street Park with the city's cost not to exceed $1,000 with payment to
