The special meeting of the McHenry Clity Council was called to order by Mayor Stanek on Tuesday, June 22, 1982 at 7:30 P.M. in City Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and 'act on Sludge Management Proposals, monthly sewer rates and water/sewer!budget, sewer plant improve- ments and purchase of a nurse truck. At roll call• the following aldermen ere present: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meure . Also in attendance were: Supt. of Public Works Halvensleben; Chief Oper for of the sewer plant, Gene Hester; City Clerk Gilpin; Darrell Gavle, vice president of Baxter & Woodman. Gavle reviewed the Wastewater Sludge Management study his firm had compiled in March of 1982 which had been s bmitted to the City Council for consideration. He also explained that the present sludge dewatering equipment was about 30 years old and couldn't e repaired or kept in service because it was too old and too small f r the expanded sewer treat- ment plant. Improvement 32,000 8,000 40,000 D Resident Inspection 0 10,000 10,000 320,000 $35,000 $355,000 He also distributed a letter from Bauer & Woodman dated 6-22-82 in which the engineering services for each propos 1 were specifically outlined. Mayor Stanek declared a short recess at 8:42 P.M. The meeting recon- vened at 8:52 P.M. with everyone still in attendance. Dr. Hal Sundin of Baxter and Woodman arrived during the latter part of the meeting. Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan,'to authorize Baxter & Woodman to proceed with Proposals A & C as outlined in their letter dated 6-22-82. Motion by Pepping, seconded by Harke , to have the City Council go " on record as being conceptually in agreement w1th all the proposals (A,B,C,& D) as outlined in Baxter & Woodman's letter dated 6-22-82. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker,,Datz, Smith, Meurer, Serritella, Wieser. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Discussion was held regarding an increase in the monthly sewer rates. Ordinance Sewer Motion by Pepping, seconded by N0lanl' to increase the monthly sewer Rates rates from $5 to $9 per month for residential sers and from 75� to $1.35 per thousand gallons for commercial users with an effective date of July 1, 1982.
