WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17, 1987 8:00 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to
order by Mayor Busse on Wednesday, June 17, 1987 at 8 P.M. at City Hall. Council
At roll call the following Aldermen were present: Bolger, Lieder, Meeting
McClatchey, Nolan, Patterson, Smith, Serritella, Teta. Absent: None. Attendance
City staff in attendance were Supt. Batt, Attorney Narusis, Clerk Gilpin,
Park Director Merkel, Chief Joyce.
Motion by Lieder, seconded by Nolan, to accept the minutes of
the June 3, 1987 Regular Meeting as amended.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Lieder, McClatchey, Nolan,
Patterson, Smith, Serritella, Teta.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
Motion by McClatchey, seconded by Bolger, to accept the minutes
of the June 3, 1987 Boa M of Local Improvements Public Hearing as
presented.
Voting Aye: Bolger, Lieder, McClatchey, Nolan,
Patterson, Smith, Serritella, Teta.

Bob Morris of the McHenry County Economic Development Commission
addressed the Council on behalf of the Fox River/Chain of Lakes Corridor
Tourism and Recreation Council to request a $1,000 donation as part of
the local matching funds for a DCCA Grant to develop the tourism corridor
along the Fox River.
Motion by Bolger, seconded by Nolan, to grant the request of the Donations
Tourism and Recreation Council and donate $1,000.

Patterson, Smith, Serritella, Teta.

City Treasurer Jon Meyer, addressed the Council concerning the
proposed position of Administrator of Financial and Personnel Services
for the City. Following discussion, a Personnel Committee Meeting was
scheduled for Monday, July 6, 1987 at 8:00 P.M. to continue the
discussion.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Patterson, to grant the request for
a fence variation at 4320 South Street as presented. Variations

Motion by Lieder, seconded by Patterson, to grant the request of
Jewel Food Store for installation of a large banner on its building with Sign Permits
a time restriction of 45 days. & Variations

Motion by Smith, seconded by Patterson, to grant the request of Sign Permits

in its parking lot with a time restriction of 45 days.

to approve the transfer of a liquor license for Old Bridge Tavern at Liquor
1334 N. Riverside Drive from Christopher Wijas to C.J. Ludford and David Control &

Parking Lot on June 18, 1987 through June 21, 1987.

Motion by Smith, seconded by Bolger, to resolve that the City of
Easements McHenry shall pay Chicago Northwestern Transportation Company the total
sum of $4,350 as the price for a 10 foot wide perpetual sanitary sewer
Chicago & easement located within the railroad property and right-of-way from the
NW RR Co. existing City of McHenry manhole at the depot (Manhole No. 26-3-87 as
shown on the 1981 City of McHenry Water and Sewer Atlas) and running
thence north in the right-of-way a distance of approximately 4900 feet;
that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute
whatever documents may be necessary in connection therewith; that the sum
of $500 shall be paid to the Chicago Northwestern Transportation Company
immediately and that the balance of the aforesaid easement price shall be
paid upon receipt of the easement documents.

of approximately $2,000 in material costs for paving the right of way on
the east side of Center Street between John and Main Streets.

Mayor Busse called for a recess at 9:25 P.M. The meeting
reconvened at 9:40 P.M. with everyone in attendance except Alderman
Bolger who left because he was not feeling well.
Alderman Serritella, Chairman of the Purchasing Committee,
reported that a meeting had been held prior to the Council Meeting at
which time Park Director Merkel was instructed to obtain prices for a
replacement station wagon for the Park Department. The Committee also
recommended approval of the request of Superintendent Batt for purchase
of a sickle bar for the city mower at a price of $4,095 from George P.
Freund and Son. If the sickle bar was not available in two weeks from
George P. Freund & Son, the Superintendent was authorized to purchase the
sickle bar from Beer Motors.
