The Regular Meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Stanek on Monday, June 1, 1981 at 8 P.M. At roll call the following aldermen Council Mtg. were present: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Weiser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Absent: None. Attendance Also in attendance were Supt. Weber, Attorney Narusis, Clerk Gilpin and Chief Pasenelli. Park Director Merkel arrived at 9:50 P.M. Motion by Datz, seconded by Harker, to approve the minutes of the May 18, 1981 Regular Meeting as read. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Nolan, seconded by Harker, to pass a Resolution commending Resolu Earl Murray for his 8 years of service on the Board of Police Commissioners. t io n Mayor Stanek presented the Resolution to Murray along with his Police Star and thanked him on behalf of all the citizens of McHenry. Murray expressed thanks to the City Council for the honor. Motion by Wieser to deny the request of David Mason of 5512 Shore Fence Drive for a fence variation as presented. Motion failed for lack of a second. Varia- tion Motion by Serritella, seconded by Meurer, to grant David Mason's request for a fence variation with the stipulation that upon construction of a road on the side of his property, that portion of the fence that is beyond the building setback line must be removed, and Mason must. sign an agreement to this stipulation before the fence permit is issued. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: Wieser, Smith. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Harker, to pass a Resolution granting a Resolu- temporary liquor license to St. Patrick's church to sellalroholic beverages on t ion the church premises in connection with fund raising activities on June 12, 13, Liquor 19 and 20. President John Huemann of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce addressed Chamber the Council regarding a fireworks display. of Com- merce Motion by Nolan, seconded by Meurer, to grant permission for a fire- works display in Petersen Park on July 5th (with a raindate of July 12th) on Fireworks the condition that a proper insurance certificate is presented to the City to cover all liabilities. Voting Aye: Nolan, Harker, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: Pepping, Datz, Wieser. Absent: None. Motion carried. Monday, June 1, 1981 Page 4 The Street and Sidewalk Committee was instructed by Mayor Stanek to Commit- tees inspect city streets to determine what limited road work could be done in connection with the 1981 Summer Street Maintenance program. It was the concensus of opinion of the Council to concur with the pro - Street Mainte - posal of the Mayor to construct a blacktop bike lane six feet wide along the west nance Bike lane side of Green Street from approximately Clover Avenue to Knox Park. Knox Park Mayor Stanek called for a recess at 9:32 P.M. The meeting reconvened at 10:46 P.M. with everyone still in attendance. Chairman Nolan of the Park Committee reported that it was the recom- mendation of the Park Committee to close Riverside Drive Beach for swimming and Parks Just use it for a passive park area. The water slide will be taken down and relocated at Petersen Park Beach. It was also the Committee's recommendation Employees that no free swimming pool passes should be issued to city employees this year. Motion by Meurer, seconded by Wieser, to authorize and approve the Police Dept. purchase of $3,377.28 of replacement equipment for the Police Department as Purchases recommended by the Purchasing Committee. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Serritella, Meurer, Wieser, Smith. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Questions arose as to whether or not the Overtime pay provisions of Wages Commit- the City's Wage and Benefit Ordinance were being administered correctly. tee Following discussion, the Finance Committee was directed to review the matter and report back with a recommendation. Executive Motion by Wieser, seconded by Nolan, to go into Executive Session at Session 10:38 P.M. for the purpose of discussing pending litigation. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Serritella, Meurer, Wieser, Smith. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
