At roll call the follow- Meeting ing aldermen were present: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Attend- Serritella, Meurer. Absent: None. ance Motion by Nolan, seconded by Meurer, to accept the minutes of the May 4, 1981 Regular Meeting and the May 11, 1981 Special Meeting as read. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Serritella, to pass a Resolution authorizing the closing of a portion of Route 120 on July 26, 1981 for the Fiesta Day parade as required by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Datz, seconded by Harker, to authorize and approve the use of Pearl Street Park as requested by the Alliance Bible Church from 7:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. on Friday, May 29, 1981. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz„ Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Robert Grossman of Associated Planners sent a letter advising of four quotes he had received for printing of the updated Comprehensive Plan Book. The quotes were as follows: McHenry Printing $807.00; Sky Harbor Press $717.00; Ward Printing $675.00; Z-Print $599.55. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Chamber John Huemann, President of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce of addressed the council concerning a proposal for a fireworks show on July 5, Commerce 1981 at Petersen Park. Motion by Wieser, seconded by Datz, to defer action on granting Fire- permission for use of Petersen Park for the fireworks show until all the works problems presented during the discussion could be addressed by the Fireworks Committee and to reserve the dates of July 5th and a raindate of July 12 at Petersen Park until a final decision is made by the Council. Voting Aye: Pepping, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: Nolan. Absent: None. Motion carried. Mayor Stanek appointed Aldermen Nolan, Serritella and Meurer to Commit - serve on the Fireworks Committee as representatives of the city. tees Motion by Harker, seconded by Pepping, to accept the April Treasurer's Report as presented. Motion carried. Monday, May 18, 1981 Page 5 Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan, to designate the month of May as Senior Citizens Month in the City of McHenry. Declara- tions Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Mayor Stanek called for a recess at 9:54 P.M. Meeting reconvened at 10:07 P.M. with everyone still in attendance. Motion by Harker, seconded by Pepping, to concur with the Street and Sidewalk Committee recommendation to take no further action on the request to Alley establish the alley between Grand and Maple Avenues as a public alley or dedicated right-of-way since it is now privately owned property. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Pepping, to concur with the Street and Subdi- Sidewalk Committee recommendation to amend the Subdivision Control Ordinance to vision Control read that any street having a right-of-way width of 76 to 100 feet as well as Ordi- nance any and all state, county, township or FAU routes be designated as major or collector streets. Following discussion, Harker withdrew his motion and Pepping withdrew his second until the matter is reviewed further by the Council. Motion by Harker, seconded by Datz, to concur with the Street and Side - Sidewalk Committee recommendation to permit similar conditions for sidewalk walks installation at 902 and 904 Oakwood Drive and at 903 and 911 Hampton Court as were extended for sidewalk installation on Green Street, which is that property owners pay $2.80 per running foot with the city to furnish labor. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Monday, May 18, 1981 Page 6 Motion by Wieser•, seconded by Smith, to concur with the recommendation of the License Committee and deny the request of Little City Foundation for a Tag 2-day fund drive in the City because none of the funds collected would be used Day for any residents of McHenry. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Meurer•, seconded by Serritella, to authorize and approve a Block Party street closing for a neighborhood block party as follows: close Brittany Street Closing Drive from Shore to Sherman Drives on Sunday, May 24, 1981from 12 noon to 12 midnight. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Wieser, seconded by Smith, to adjourn.
