The regular meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to order Council by Mayor Stanek on Monday, May 17, 1982 at 8 P. At roll call the follow- Meeting ing aldermen were present: Pepping, Nolan, . Ha er, Datz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Absent: None. Also in attendance were Attorney Narusis, Attendance Clerk Gilpin, Chief Pasenelli, Park Director Merkel. Motion by Serritella, seconded by Datz, to accept the minutes of the May 3, 1982 Regular Meeting as presented. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Katz, Wieser, Smith, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Smith, io concur with the recommenda- Zoning tion of the Zoning Board of Appeals and pass an ordinance granting B-1 and Ordinance Industrial Park Zoning classifications'to the Mid -States Development Company (McDonald) property on the west side of Route 1 north of Bull Valley Road. Motion by Wieser, seconded by Serritella, to authorize and approve Park the use of Knox Park softball fields for a Hiller and Hamm baseball tourna- Depart- ment to be held June 18, 19 and 20 and to gran them permission to sell beer ment and only other items at their concession stand',that the city does not sell Approval at its stand. Voting Aye: Harker, Datz, Wieser, Sm�th, Serritella, Meurer. Voting Nay: Pepping, Nolan. Absent: None. Motion carried. Motion by Harker, seconded by Meurer, to grant permission to the Park Use Chamber of Commerce for use of Petersen Park or a fireworks display on Sunday July 4 with a raindate of July 5. The lowest pric submitted was from Illinois Purchases Lawn Equipment Inc. at a cost of $9,986.00. He will order the unit from that company. Mayor Stanek read a letter of commendation into the record for McHenry Police Officers Erkenswick and Pechou ; Sgt. Patrick Joyce and Investigator Gary Wigman for the excellent manner in which they handled a recent tragedy which occured within the cit on April 14, 1982. McHenry Motion by Pepping, seconded by Harker, that the unpaid payroll tax Shores liability owed by McHenry Shores be assumed and paid by the City of McHenry in the amount of $13,140.83. McHenry Motion by Pepping, seconded by Meurer, to instruct the City Attorney Shores to explore the remedies availabl� for the city to recapture those moneys and report back to the Council. Employees Motion by Harker, seconded by Nolan, to approve the mayor's recom- mendation and hire John Mergl on a 90-day trial basis as custodian at city hall at the beginning wage for g neral public works laborer- and he will report to the Superintendent of ublic Works who will be his immediate supervisor.
