The regular meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to order by Mayor Stanek on Monday, May 16, 1983 at 8:00 p.m. At roll call the following Aldermen were present: Snell, Smith, McClatchey, Datz, Busse, Nolan, Bolger. Absent: Serritella. City staff in attendance were Supt. Halvensleben, Attorney Narusis, Clerk Gilpin, Chief Pasenelli, Park Director Merkel. Motion by Smith, seconded by Datz, to accept the minutes of the May 2, 1983 Regular Meeting as presented. Voting Aye: Snell, Smith, McClatchey, Datz, Busse, Nolan, Bolger. Voting Nay: None Absent: Serritella. Motion carried. Rotary exchange student Ian Belton of Belmont, West Australia, was introduced to the Council. He presented the Mayor with a letter and a gift from the Mayor of Belmont which gave a brief history of Ian Belton's background and how he came to be an exchange student in McHenry. Mayor Stanek. welcomed Ian to McHenry and thanked him for the tie clip and cuff links which bore the emblem of the City of Belmont, West Australia. Council Meetinq Attendan Guests David Gelwicks was presented with a Resolution by Mayor Stanek recog- nizing him for his service to the City of McHenry as Alderman of the Third Resolutic Ward, which Resolution was incorporated into the minutes of this meeting. George Cone of 701 N. Lillian Street addressed the Council concerning removal of a stop sign at the corner of Sioux Lane and Lillian Street. Motion by Nolan, seconded by McClatchey, to deny the request of Stop Sign GeorgE! Cone for removal of the stop sign at the intersection of Sioux Locations Lane and Lillian Street. Traffic Voting Aye: Snell, Smith, McClatchey, Datz, Busse, Nolan, Bolger. Regulation. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Serritella. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Nolan, to ratify a verbal agreement Street obtained from the Aldermen previous to the meeting, regarding construction Maint. & of one-half mile of Bull Valley Road from Green Street to the River and to Repair authorize payment for the City's share of the construction to be made Motor Fu from Motor Fuel Tax Funds. Tax Voting Aye: Snell, Smith, Datz, Busse, Nolan, Bolger. Voting Nay: McClatchey. Absent: Serritella. Motion carried. Motion by Datz, seconded by McClatchey, to authorize and approve the request of Hillcrest Apartments at the corner of McCullom Lake Road and Sidewalk Orleans Street to allow them to construct the sidewalks along Orleans Street inside the property line abutting the right-of-way. Voting Aye: Snell, Smith, McClatchey, Datz, Busse, Nolan, Bolger. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Serritella. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Nolan, to grant a fence variation to Henry W. Rodiek of 3500 W. Biscayne Road, McHenry Shores. Fence Voting Aye: Snell, Smith, McClatchey, Datz, Busse, Nolan, Bolger. Variatic Voting Nay: None. Absent: Serritella. Motion carried. Sgt. Patrick Joyce and Officer Gary Wigman were com- mended for their work in solving 2 armed robbery offenses which occurred in the City of McHenry in February and April of 1982. A copy of the letter will be made a permanent part of their personnel files. Motion by Datz, seconded by Busse, to set dates for 2 Committee Meet- ings of the Whole as follows: Wednesday, May 18, 1983 at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of discussing the updating of the Building & Zoning Rules and Regulations for the City and another meeting on Thursday, May 26, 1983 at 8:00 P.M. to discuss possible annexation of islands of land within the corporate limits of the City. Voting Aye: Snell, Smith, McClatchey, Datz, Busse, Nolan, Bolger. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Serritella. Motion carried. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Datz, to accept the low price proposal from Edwards Bros. Roofing for repair of the roof at the Sewer Plant in the amount of $2,350.00.
