The Board of Local Improvements was; called to order by President Council William J. Busse on Wednesday, May 11, 1988 at 7:30 P.M. in McHenry City Mt Attend. Hall for the purpose of discussing bids received on the McHenry Shores BLI Area Sanitary Sewer System Special Assessment No. 31. Members in attendance were: Bolger, Nolan, Teta, Lieder, Smith, McClatchey, Patterson. Absent: Serritella. City staff in attendance were: Attorney Narusis, City Clerk Gilpin, Superintendent Batt, Chief Joyce, Finance and Personnel Administrator Vitas. Also in attendance was Carl Moon of Baxter and Woodman. Three bids were received as follows: George Kennedy Construction Co. $2,964,589.00 J.R. Myers Construction Co. $2,977,539.25 Special Assessments J. Shea Co. & J. Kennedy Const. $3,294,351.50 The engineer's estimate was $2,399,394.50 . Lengthy discussion was held as to the reason for the high bids over the estimate and what the Board's options might be. It was the consensus of opinion that Baxter & Woodman should negotiate with the low bidder, George W. Kennedy Construction Co. to try and lower the construction costs. It was also recommended that the City should pick up a share of the overage costs. Motion by Lieder, seconded by Nolan, to recess this Board of Local Improvement Meeting at-7:57 P.M. and continue discussion after the Regular Council meeting which was scheduled at 8:00 P.M. this evening. Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Lieder, Teta, Smith, McClatchey, Patterson. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Serritella. Motion carried. President Busse reconvened the Board of Local Improvement Meeting at 12:03 A.M., May 12, 1988, with all Aldermen in attendance except Patterson. City staff in attendance were: Attorney Narusis and Clerk Gilpin. President Busse announced that this Board of Local Improvement Meeting would be adjourned until Monday, May 23, 1988 at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of making a final decision on awarding the bid for the McHenry Shores Area Sanitary Sewer System Special Assessment No. 31. Motion by Smith, seconded by McClatchey, Voting Aye: Bolger, Nolan, Lieder, Teta, Smith, McClatchey, Serritella. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Patterson. Motion carried.
