HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 03/21/1983 - City Council (2)CITY OF McHENRY REVENUE SHARING PROPOSED USE HEARING MONDAY, MARCH 21, 1983 7:30 P.M. Mayor Stanek called to order a Public Hearing on the proposed use of Revenue Sharing Funds for the City of McHenry on Monday, March 21, 1983 at 7:30 P.M. in city hall. Approximately $61,312.00 will be allocated to city government for entitlement period 14 under the Revenue Sharing Funding program. The $61,312.00 allocation will be incorporated into the City of McHenry's 1983-84 fiscal year budget. The public is invited to participate at this hearing and present oral or written statements as to how the Revenue Sharing Funds should be appropriated. Comments will be accepted and questions answered regarding allocations of these funds. Local organizations, clubs, senior citizen groups, youth organizations and other interested citizens are encouraged to participate and present their views. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Pepping, Nolan, Busse, Datz, Gelwicks, Smith, Serritella and Meurer. Absent: None. City personnel in attendance were City Attorney Narusis, Clerk Gilpin, Police Chief Pasenelli, Park Director Merkel. Written requests for Revenue Sharing Funds were presented by the following organizations: McHenry County Youth Service Bureau Inc. $3,720.00; Easter Seal Society for McHenry County $924.00; McHenry County Historical Society, no specific amount requested; McHenry Public Library $3,000.00. Oral presentations were made by Philip Gust, Chief of the McHenry Area Rescue Squad for $7,500.00 or more; and from Elli Behrens of the McHenry Beautifica- tion Committee for $500.00. Alderman Pepping made the following requests on behalf of the Finance Committee: Police radios $35,000.00 and mosquito abatement $22,000.00. Mayor Stanek mentioned that money was also needed for water and sewer line improvements. When asked if there was anyone else in the audience who wish to address the Council regarding Revenue Sharing alloca- tions, there was no response. Motion by Smith, seconded by Nolan, to adjourn. Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Busse, Datz, Gelwicks, Smith, Meurer, Serritella. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:56 P.M.
