PROPOSED USE OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 1981 7:15 P.M.
A Public Hearing on the proposed use of Revenue Sharing Funds for the
Public
City of McHenry was called to order by Mayor Stanek on Wednesday, February 18, Hearing
1981 at 7:20 P.M. At roll call the following aldermen were present: Pepping, Revenue
Sharing
Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley, Meurer. Absent: None. Also in
Attendanc(:
attendance were Supt. of Public Works Weber, City Attorney Narusis, Clerk Gilpin,
Police Chief Pasenelli and Park Director Merkel.
Mayor Stanek announced that approximately $207,144.00 of Revenue
Sharing Funds will be allocated to city government for all of Entitlement
Period No. 12 and two quarters of Entitlement Period No. 13. The $207,144.00
allocation will be incorporated into the City of McHenry's 1981-82 Fiscal Year
budget. The Public was invited to participate at this hearing and present
oral or written statements as to how the Revenue Sharing Funds should be
appropriated. Comments willbe accepted and questions answered at this hearing
regarding allocation of these funds. Local organizations, clubs, senior citizens
groups, youth organizations and other interested citizens are encouraged to
participate and present their views. Notice of this public hearing was published
in the McHenry Plaindealer on February 6, 1981.
The following persons appeared in behalf of the organizations they
represented: Philip Gust, Chief of the McHenry Area Rescue Squad - no set amount
requested; Janice Wegener, President of the McHenry Public Library - no set
amount requested; Nancy Fike of the McHenry County Historical Society - no set
amount requested; Joan Schratt, Resource Director of the Youth Service Bureau for
McHenry County - requested $6,800.00;- Douglas Pratt, Director of the McHenry
Alternative High School - requested $9,000.00; Fran Olsen, Executive Director
of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce - requested $3,000.00 for Fiesta Day
activities and $300 for the Miss McHenry contest; Linnea Olesen, Executive
Director of the McHenry County Senior Citizens' Council - requested $7,500.00;
A letter was received from Alan Dominic, Executive Director of the Easter Seal
Society for the McHenry County requesting $4,000.00 for operation of the Easter
Seal Therapy Center.
The following requests were made by City Council members: Mayor
Stanek - $45,000.00 for dredging of Boone Creek between the Millstream Drive

bridge and the Green Street bridge; Alderman Nolan - $1,000.00 for the McHenry
Beautification Committee; Alderman Schooley - $50,000.00 for road resurfacing
and repairs and $15,000.00 for completion of the Oak Street Bridge and the
connecting roadway; Alderman Harker - $30,000.00 for water line improvements
throughout the city; Alderman Meurer - $58,056.00 for a new street sweeper
and $15,000.00 for installation of underground fuel tanks and pumps at the
city garage; Alderman Pepping - $25,000.00 for mosquito abatement.
Mayor Stanek asked if there were any further suggestions, comments
or requests from the audience. There was no response to his question.
Motion by Nolan, seconded by Adams, to adjourn the hearing.
Voting Aye: Pepping, Nolan, Harker, Datz, Wieser, Adams, Schooley,
Meurer.
Voting Nay: None.
Absent: None.
Motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 8:26 P.M.
