The majority of the event will take place at McCracken Field however events will also be held at Center Street Park, Edgebrook and Duker Schools. Attached is an e. mail request from Mr. David Brachmann, Director of Bands, requesting the city consider approving street closures for the event. As was the case with previous events, bands will perform at McCracken Field every 15 to 20 minutes. The bands will assemble and warm up at Center Street Park, upon which they will march in formation to the main performance field, which will require the intermittent closure of a portion of Center Street and a portion of Kane Avenue. Once the performance is complete the band will proceed to the District 15 sites for review and instruction from clinic organizers and judges. If approved, the city will provide barricades to the McHenry High School Marching Band to assist with closing the streets. The barricades will be placed in the street and removed by event volunteers. No city staff assistance is required for the event. There were no issues with this event in past years. If Council concurs with this request, then it is recommended a motion is made to approve the request from McHenry High School for the intermittent closure of portions of Center Street and Kane Avenue on Saturday, September 12'h from 12*00 PM to 6:00 PM. McHenry Marching Festival Hi Bill, I wanted to touch base with you regarding the Marching Festival on September 12th and ensure that we are still good to go with similar set up details as the past. We would like to again have Kane Ave. blocked off throughout the event (12-6 PM) with the ability to stop traffic on Center St. to allow bands to transit between McCracken Field and Center St. Park. Additionally, we would be looking to paint a field at Center St. Park in the afternoon/evening of September 1 Ith and then use the park throughout the day on the 12th. Please let me know if this will work for us again this year. Thank you! They are seeking approval to partner with a local business holding a liquor license to provide beer and wine during the concert on that evening. Alcohol service would be available from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. All persons purchasing alcohol will be required to provide proof of age. The initial event request was made via email(attached) and, after subsequent discussion, it was determined that a Parks Special Use and Beer and Wine Application would be required. Therefore, also attached is the completed application. There would be two bluegrass style bands that would perform beginning at 6:30 PM. The concert would conclude at 8:30 PM. The organizers feel that adding this concert will also help extend interest in the McHenry Farmers' Market. If Council concurs, then it is recommended a motion is considered to approve special use application including the sale of beer and wine during the September 10, 2015 Farmers' Market Band Concert in Veterans Memorial Park as presented. Bill Hobson From: Kristina Danitz [kristinadanitz@yahoo.com] Sent. Monday, August 24, 2015 4:54 PM To: Bill Hobson Subject. Farmer's Market/Evening of Bluegrass Dear Bill, My name is Kristina-- I have a stand at the farmer's market, and have been working closely with Tina, helping her out getting the market up and going. I would love to explore the option of hosting/having a mid -September "Evening of Bluegrass in McHenry" with 1 or 2 local bluegrass bands during/after the market. I think the idea of having a fall community concert at Veteran's Memorial Park would be very appealing to our residents, as McHenry seems to really enjoy these type of events. I know Tina discussed with you about potentially "extending" the weekly Concert in the Park event and, respectfully, you made the decision that it would be disjointed in adding one 3 weeks later. I agree with you. Which I why I am suggesting to host a completely separate, individual event that will piggyback the farmer's market. I have a background in musical promotion and coordination and have a team of individuals that are more that willing and happy to do some heavy advertising for this potential event, per your approval. We would be looking at September loth from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. I have two bands that have agreed to this date/time; Miles over Mountains & Under the Willow. I wouldn't need anything else from you, except your permission to go through with this event. The bands will handle all set-up/breakdown/promo/etc... Aside from this, I extend my hand for assistance with any event coordination/musical promotion/booking in the future, as I stated before I have had my hands in this industry for quite some time. I truly look forward to hearing from you and hoping this will lead us to a great future relationship in building the McHenry Farmer's Market and Concert in the Park!
