HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 04/13/1994 - City Council REGULAR MEETING APRIL 13, 1994 The Regular Meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to order by -' Mayor Cuda on Wednesday, April 13, 1994 at 7:37 P.M. in the Council Room of the Municipal Center. At roll call the following Aldermen were present: Bolger, Bates, Lawson, Baird. Alderman Locke arrived at 8:23 P.M. Absent: None. City Staff in attendance: Deputy Clerk Marth, City Administrator Peterson, Chief of Police Joyce. Absent: City Clerk Gilpin, Director of Public Works Batt, Director of Parks and Recreation Merkel, Director of Building and Zoning Lobaito, City Attorney McArdle. TER MINUTE PUBLIC INPUT SESSIOft No one signed in to speak. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Baird, seconded by Lawson, to approve the following Consent Agenda with the correction to the March 30, 1994 Minutes: Approved March 30, 1994 Regular Meeting Minutes with one correction under Committee Reports; Approved April 6, 1994 Regular Meeting Minutes; { — Approved Bills for Payment. Voting Aye: Bolger, Bates, Lawson, Baird. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Locke. Motion carried. Alderman Baird asked that an additional item of land acquisition be added to the Executive Session agenda. Motion by Bates, seconded by Lawson, to go into Executive Session at 7:42 P.M. to discuss personnel matters and land acquisition. Voting Aye: Bolger, Bates, Lawson, Baird. Voting Nay: . None. Absent: Locke. Motion carried. Alderman Locke arrived at 8:23 P.M. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Lawson, to go back into open session at 11:15 P.M. Voting Aye: Bolger, Bates, Lawson, Baird, Locke. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS Mayor Cuda asked the Council for approval of his appointment of former Alderman Frank McClatchey to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Motion by Baird, seconded by Lawson, to approve the appointment of Frank McClatchey of 1623 N. Riverside Drive, to the Zoning Board of Appeals to fill the unexpired term of Wayne Dixon to April 30, 1995. Voting Aye: Bolger, Lawson, Baird, Locke. Voting Nay: Bates. Absent: None. Motion carried. The Mayor reported that at the last Economic Development Commission meeting, the members suggested that Dave Gelwicks be appointed to represent the Commission on the City's PUD Committee. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Bates, to approve the Mayor's appointment of Economic Development Commission member Dave Gelwicks to the PUD Committee. April 13, 1994 Page 2 Voting Aye: Bolger, Lawson, Baird, Locke, Bates. Voting Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Alderman Bolger reported on the Public Works' Committee discussion of the Whispering Oaks drainage ditch problem and the engineer's estimate of cost of $19,200 for correcting the problem. In talking with staff, Bolger said he thought they could get a lower price by possibly having City workers provide some of the labor and eliminating some material. The staff did manage to secure a lower price quote of $17,250 which eliminated the manholes but included another 60 feet of drainage pipe. Bolger said a revised proposal would be presented at the next Council meeting . Bolger said he had received two requests for stop signs at the intersection of Fairway Drive and Valley Road due to increased traffic on Fairway. One child was almost hit by a car. Motion by Bolger, seconded by Locke, to authorize the drafting of an ordinance for the installation of stop signs on Fairway Drive, east and .� west bound at Valley Road, to make it a three-way stop intersection. Voting Aye: Lawson, Locke, Bolger. Voting Nay: Baird, Bates. Absent: None. Motion carried. ADJOURNMBNT Motion by Bates, seconded by Lawson, to adjourn the meeting.
