RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Steve Laing officially retired from the McHenry Township Fire Protection
District, from his position as the Chief of Fire Prevention Bureau, effective November 1,
2006; and
WHEREAS, Steve Laing began his dedicated service with the McHenry Township Fire
Protection District in 1987 and was hired to spearhead the Fire Prevention Bureau, which
he did for nineteen years; and
WHEREAS, Steve Laing was hired as the first full-time McHenry Township Fire
Protection District firefighter; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the McHenry Township Fire Protection District,
Steve Laing worked very closely with the City of McHenry in an effort to effectuate open
communication and a positive working relationship; and
WHEREAS, Steve Laing expressed a sincere obligation and allegiance to, as well as
enthusiasm for, fire protection awareness and educatian with the citizens of the City of
McHenry; and
WHEREAS, Steve Laing will be remembered for his commitment to fire protection,
dedication to community service and devotion to the citizens of the City of McHenry, and
his strong efforts in establishing and maintaining a positive long-term working relationship
with the City of McHenry.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the McHenry City Council goes on
record as recognizing these accomplishments and expresses its appreciation and gratitude
to Steve Laing on behalf of the citizens of McHenry.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be incorporated into the minutes of
this meeting and thax a capy be presented to Steve Laing.
