RESOL UTION
WHEREAS, William J. Bolger was elected City of McHenry Alderman and was sworn
in effective May 1, 1957; and
WHEREAS, he has diligently and selflessly served the McHenry community during his
entire term of office since the initial date of assuming his position as Alderman, and has
graciously served in this capacity until his retirement on Apri130, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bolger has served the City of McHenry, its residents and business
community in his capacity as Alderman and on numerous committees including, Public Works
Committee, Finance and Personnel Committee, Building Zoning Planning and Development
Committee, Public Property & Utilities Committee, Streets Alleys & Sidewalks Committee,
License Committee, Ordinance Committee, and Band Committee among countless others, and
has acted in all matters with the welfare of the City uppermost in his mind; and
WHEREAS, he witnessed and assisted in:
• the creation of the McHenry Library District;
• the expansion of the original McHenry City Hall at 1111 North Green Street;
• the purchase of the Knox Farm Property used for the development and construction of
the sparkling new Municipal Center;
• the birth of the McHenry Riverwalk;
• the purchase of the Petersen Farm Property and its transformation into the City's largest
and most versatile park;
• the growth of our community from 2,748 residents to its present population of 24,493;
during his years of service; and
WHEREAS, he can look back with pride on his contributions and accomplishments
while serving in the capacity of Alderman for the�City of McHenry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of McHenry
go on record as recognizing the many contributions and accomplishments of William J. Bolger
and expresses its appreciation and gratitude to him on behalf of the citizens of McHenry.
BE IT FURTHER'RESOLVED that this Resolution be incorporated into the minutes of
this meeting and that a copy be presented to William J. Bolger.
