Board of Police Commissioners
January 3, 2024
Police Chairman Sue Meyer called the meeting to order at 2:00 pm in the Police Administration
Conference Room with the following Commissioners present John Jones and Stephen Doherty. Also
present was Chief Birk and Deputy Chief Tom Walsh and Administrative Assistant Deb Shuett.
Public Comment
None.
1. Motion to Approve November 1, 2023 Meeting Report
Motion by Police Chairman Sue Meyer to approve meeting minutes. Police Commissioner John
Jones and second by Police Commissioner Stephen Doherty to approve the minutes from the
November 1, 2023, meeting. Police Commission meeting as presented. All ayes, motion carried.
2. Unfinished Business
Personnel Update – Stevan Barjaktarevic and Justin McCauley have graduated from the Police
Academy and are currently in Step 1 Field Training program. Both doing well. Asked
Barjaktarevic about academy, stated he enjoyed it.
Christopher Cummings starts the Police Academy on Sunday January 7th. Graduation expected
sometime in April 2024.
With Commander Cruz and Officer Morales’ retirement, have 2 openings.
3. New Business
Eligibility List – Written tests will take place on Saturday January 6th at 9:00 am, at the
Recreation Center. Check in is at 8:30 am and orientation starts at 9:00 am. Should receive results
from the tests sometime next week. Will need to schedule interviews towards end of the month.
Sometime in the Fall, need to start a promotional list for Sergeants.
4. Communications
The following bill(s) were presented for approval:

Adjournment
Motion by Police Chairman Sue Meyer to adjourn meeting. Police Commissioner John Jones and
second by Police Commissioner Stephen Doherty to adjourn the meeting at 2:20 pm. All ayes,
motion carried.
