PARK COMMITTEE MEETING
Thursday, March 10, 1988

MEMBERS PRESENT: Aldermen Patterson, Lieder and Nolan.
MEMBERS ABSF_NT: Alderman McClatchey.
OTHERS PRESENT: Mayor Busse and Parks & Recreation Director Merkel .
PURPOSE OF MEETING: Discuss Park and Recreation Related Items.
-FIRST MATTER DISCUSSED: Review Park Department Budget Requests
DECISION OR RECOMMENDATION: No decision or recommendation made.
-SECOND MATTER DISCUSSED: Review Capital Development Budget for Fiscal
Year 1988-1989
DECISION OR RECOMMENDATION: No decision or recommendation made.
-THIRD MATTER DISCUSSED: Review Service Club Donations
DECISION OR RECOMMENDATION: Donations from service clubs still pending.
-FOURTH MATTER DISCUSSED: Developer ponation Ordinance Recommendations
DECISION OR RECOMMENDATION: Recommend that the Developer ponation
Ordinance be reviewed by the Building and Zoning Co�nittee.
-FIFTH MATTER DISCUSSED: 4th of July Fireworks Display
DECISION OR RECOMMENDATION: Recommend fireworks display be held on
Sunday, July 3, 1988. Recommend a $3.00 per car parking fee. No admission
for walk-ins. Preliminary budget attached.
-SIXTH MATTER DISCUSSED: Discuss Land Acquisition/Department of
Conservation Grant Program
DECISION OR RECOMMENDATION: Recommend that we consider purchasing the
Mass property north of the Petersen Park Beach. This can be done with a
Land Acquisition Grant through the Department of Conservation. Deadline is
September 1 , 1988.
-SEVENTH MATTER DISCUSSED: Discuss proper posting of rules and
regulations at South Riverfront Park
DECISION OR RECOMMENDATION: Recommend posting signs stating no motorized
vehicles, no hunting and nature area. �
