HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 11/13/1984 - Employee Appreciation Committee EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION COMMITTEE MEETING 2:00 P.M. CITY HALL Nov. 13, 1984 The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M, by Chairman Bolger. In attendance were: Chairman Bolger, Barb Gilpin, Anne Rodenkirch, Jim Wiser, Pat Joyce, Dawn Ferguson, Gene Hester, Liz Nolan, Tony Freund, and Dolores Rogers. Excused because of working out of town: Gary Snell, Ceil Serritella, and Frank McClatchey. Chairman Bolger opened the meeting by thanking everyone for being on time and then brought the full committee up to date on everything that has transpired so far. Next on the agenda was a review of committee assignments. While everything is on schedule, Bolger cautioned all members that there are only 25 days left until the par'ty, so there must be no let-up in their efforts. There was some discussion as to the advisability of having a caricature artist at the party. Bolger said the man he had talked to lives in Janesville, Wisconsin, and while he appears to be a real gentleman, upon a reference check it was disclosed that he is in his 70's and just an average caricature artist. It appears that we will not employ his services for our party. The menu selection was discussed and will be reviewed by the menu committee. Liz Nolan and I met with the chef at the Country Club and he said he will provide a buffet dinner with a beef roast, turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, salads, and a dessert table. We may be able to add a pork roast to the menu and can make substitution on the roast turkey if we wish. The price appears to be very satisfactory. Final determination on the buffet selection will be made by the menu committee. Bolger disclosed that he had just received a phone call from Judy Irwin about a professional entertainment group that would be available to put on a Broadway-type musical for $150.00. Their show lasts about 45 minutes. In the discussion that followed, Pat Joyce warned against trying to jam too much entertainment into one evening. Since Jeff Smith will be playing the organ and encouraging some sing-alongs and Shirley Smith will offer several favorites possibly that would be sufficient. Some seemed to feel that there would be many who wished to dance. Liz Nolan felt that Jeff's arrangements are suitable for dancing. Bolger said a dance floor would be provided and that he would talk to Jeff about dance music and the possibility of a bass player or whatever he suggested for enjoyable music for dancing. The meeting was adjourned at 2:32 P.M. Respectfully submitted, ( (_(Z.((..a,-,,` -. c. h .L_;, „r Wil]iam J. Bolger Cha i rman ,;; Employee Appreciation Committee
