NOVEMBER 19, 1986 CITY HALL
Meeting called to o'rder at 7:08 P.M, in City Hall . In attendance:
Committee Chairman Bill Bolger, Committee members Aldermen Smith and
Lieder. Absent: Alderman Serritella.
Also in attendance: Mayor Busse, City Clerk Gilpin, Chief of Police
and Alderman Teta.
Chairman Bolger opened the meeting by stating that at the previous
meeting we discussed a wide range of options for expansion and that now we
should begin narrowing those options dawn so we can settle on a plan and
get started next year. Bolger said he strongly favors adding on to the
present building along the lines of the preliminary drawings by John Zabor
with the thought in mind to build a wing out to the west when it is
needed. Bolger said he believes that someday five or 10 years from now
the City will acquire Landmark School .
Alderman Lieder commented that he did not feel Landmark School could
be adapted for municipal offices withoat a tremendous expense and wondered
w hat it would cost to construct a new building on land we now own. Bolger
stated Crystal Lake is borrowing $3,000,000 for a new municipal building
and this does not include quarters for the Police Department.
Mayor Busse stated that he had been in contact with the owner of the
Cornucopia Building and discussed that building as an alternative.
Opinions were mixed on whether or not we should consider the Cornucopia
Building. Alderman Smith asked "how much money do we have to spend on
this project." Alderman Bolger said John Zabor estimated we could put an
addition across the west end of the present City Hall for around $125,000.
Mayor Busse said he felt we could probably go as high as 400,000 and
felt part of the financing could be with a mortgage of five to 10 years.
Pleeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M, with Chairman Bolger asking all
members to be prepared for more meeti ngs on expansi on i n the near future.
