Present: Alderraen Bates, Lawson, Bolger, Director Merkel, Asst. Parks Superintendent Schmidt. ITEMS OF CONSIDERATION (continued from 10-17-94 meeting) 4] Merkel discussed the proposals submitted for ADA compliance of McHenry park facilities. Bolger suggested recommending the firm of Cone-Kalb-Wonderlick to the full council for the architectural specification work for ADA compliance at the City of McHenry parks not to exceed $3,440. He received full committee approval. 5] DIRECTOR'S REPORT A) Brookside Park: Merkel contacted David Selman of the Illinois Department of Conservation, over the failed grant application. It was suggested that next year the committee seek professional assistance in writing the grant application. Merkel stated his goal of receiving council approval for resubmitting an application for a tree grant of matching funds. Bolger concurred. B) Winter/Spring Brochure: The brochure is ready to go to the printer. Any concerns or changes need to be given to Lorene. Merkel praised Lorene Marcinek for another well written and compiled brochure. � Registration for the Winter/Spring session is scheduled for early January. C) Picnic Policy Revisions: Merkel has changed the picnic request form to alleviate some problems encountered this year in Park rental. Picnic application forms were reviewed and changes approved by cotamittee. Committee will recommend approval to the full Council at the November 2nd mee ing. Alderman Lawson asked about permission of alcohol at the city parks. Rules and regulations state beer and wine are only permitted through application for and receipt of a special permit. D) Tree donations: A new list was passed out to committtee members with the names and addresses of citizens interested in donating trees to the City. Some donations were declined due to problems in uprooting and transporting the trees. NEW BUSINESS Bates submitted a list of proposed steering committee members for a future recreation center to be approved by the committee. Discussion about choices ensued. Determination was made to appoint the following persons to serve on the committee: Carolyn Lawson, Tim 0'Toole, Liz Nolan, Bill Busse, Mia Szamlewski, Mike Shanahan, Ray Smith ALTERNATIVES: Scott Nolan, Patti Roth, Charles Adams � Meeting was recessed at 8:00 P.M. The meeting was reconvened at 8:05 P.M. in the Council Chambers.
