1. Park Facilitv Improvements
Attached (yellow) is a memo sent to Fred Batt suggesting some park
facility improvements that should be completed this Fall or Spring
1995. I will give a brief report on these improvements to the committee.
2. Contracted Recreation Pro�rams
There has been some discussion in the past on the contracting for
�, recreation programs with outside organizations or individuals. I would
like to get some input from the committee on continued use of these
contracted programs.
3. Parks and Recreation Computer Implementation
The purchase of computer hardware and software for the Parks and
Recreation Department will be completed in the near future. Staff
training will be provided by the software company and will require all
staff to be involved in a four day training program.
It is anticipated that this system will be operational prior to the
Winter/Spring program registration in January 1996.
Below is a suggested timeline for the implementation of this system.
Sept./Oct. — Bidding and approval of purchase of hardware as
recommended by Eclipse, Inc. Approve purchase of software.
Oct./Nov. — Delivery and set up of system.
Nov./Dec. — Software installation and staff training.
Jan. — System operational for Winter/Spring registration.

A) D:-ainage Report — The drain tile investigation field work was
c��mpletefl by Huddleston/McBride on Thursday/Friday, August 10 &
l:l. I hope to receive the written report for discussion at the
c��mmittee meeting.
B) Illinois Department of Natural Resources Site Visit — The grant
administrative staff assigned to this project will make a site
inspection on Wednesday, August 23 at 11:30 am.
5. Directors Report
A) School Cooperative Program Fall 1995 — A brief report will be
given on upcoming fall programs that will utilize school facilities.
B) Tree City USA Recertification — Attached (blue) is a copy of the
Tree City USA Recertification. This form is due by December 31,
1995.
C) Part Time Office Position — A brief report will be made on the
process to hire a replacement for the recent vacancy in the Parks
office staff.
d) 1995 Soccer Program (MASF) — Attached (pink) is a letter from the
�- MASF regarding the upcoming season. A brief report will be made on
this proposed schedule and field conditions.

RE: Park Facility Improvements

There are several park facility improvements that need to be addressed
in the Fall of the year now that summer programs have ended. Below I have
prepared a list improvements that I feel are needed at these particular
sites.
I would be glad to review these improvements with you and your staff and
offer any assistance that you may need.
� KNOX PARK POOL
Repair of surface cracks; in pool bottom and painting of entire pool.
BALLFIELD IMPROVEMENTS
Knox Park - Fence repairs, bleacher repairs, grade spectator area,
painting of light poles and additional ballfield mix brought in on both
fields.
Petersen Park - Fence repairs, bleacher repairs, and additional
ballfield mix on all 5 fields.
DRAINAGE PROBLEMS
Knox Park Tennis Courts - Swale and drainage by sidewalk modified so
that water does not drain across tennis courts.
Petersen Park - Drainage needs to be corrected in athletic area to
eliminate water flooding infield of Field ��3 (lighted field) .
Soccer Field - Overseeding and sodding of Knox Park soccer field.
Special attention given to areas directly in front of goals.

There has been discussion on the need for these improvements in the
past. I understand that some preliminary work has been done in reviewing
these projects.
I would suggest that we sit down with the appropriate staff and discuss
how these improvements can best be accomplished.

Dear Pete:
As you are probably aware, M.A.S.F. strives to provide area youth with the opportunity to promote
soccer. As another season approaches,we anticipate another busy season. The 1995/1996 season
continues to reach a high registration of over 700 McHenry area youth. ,
�
We axe excited to hear the City of McHenry plans to open up yet another pa.rk, namely, Brookside. We
are delighted with this news and anticipate the City will work closely with M.A.S.F. to coordinate games
at Brookside in the near future. Any information you might have about available fields at Brookside will
be appreciated.
We have formed our 95/96 teams and have coordinated practice games to begin the week of August 14 in
the fields assigned to us in your letter dated Mazch 30, 1995. Practices will be held Monday through
Friday between the times of 4:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Our field representative, Karl Nickolas has made up a
schedule for practices and will contact you this week. The 95/96 season will begin September 9 with
games running from 9:00, 10:30, 12:00 and 1:30, all ending by 3:00.
We are happy to announce newly elected boaxd members for M.A.S.F. Please welcome JeffHurckes as
President, Tim Trageser as Vice President, Debra Adenau (mysel� as Secretary as well as another term
for Mike Daurio as Treasurer for the federation.
